@gebhill What does the normal unit display look like without the car play stuff?

Before buying the Golf I was quite tempted by an Up GTI. But after fitting this wireless Apple CarPlay head unit I now see no reason why you would buy one. The MK5 GTI is half the price, more fun and more practical. And now, with a £350 modification, it feels just as modern.

@gebhill One of our cars (SEAT Alhambra) the Screen has stopped working bottom left corner. Where did you get the head unit from as did think upgrade screen etc.

@gebhill As a current Up GTI owner and a former mk5 Golf GTi owner I can say you have made the right choice- but I still love my up😁

@SamCosham They’re not too bad, but they do have a couple of weak spots. The main areas are the front wings and the rear badge/boot opening (it traps water). My car is all good on that front, but it’s good to know when searching/viewing

@gebhill How are these for rust? I read something about them and it put me off. I ended up buying a mk7 😅

There's no doubt people were going to hate this no matter how it looked, but I think it looks fantastic.

@RealismHelps We’ll have to wait and see, but by the looks of the prototype spy shots the proportions look very similar

@gebhill We all like different things? I suspect the production version, once the road safety/type approval nerds have done their thing, won't look much like this at all?
