@geekofgeeks @daniellismore Okay cool, so you didn't have a point to begin with. Very pathetic, congrats

While You Were Watching the Harry Potter Trailer
The new Harry Potter promotion is everywhere. The nostalgia is loud. The excitement is real. Millions of people who grew up with those books are feeling something exciting.
Hold that feeling for a moment. Then read this.
Between 2019 and 2025, 46 transgender children under the age of 18 died by suicide in England. That data was not handed over willingly. The Good Law Project spent years fighting for it through Freedom of Information requests to the NHS-funded National Child Mortality Database. The government commissioned its own review in response. That review accounted for fewer than a third of the deaths the FOI data revealed. When challenged on this, Health Secretary Wes Streeting’s department fought tooth and nail to block every Freedom of Information request, often on spurious grounds.
They did not want you to know.
Deaths rose roughly fivefold in the immediate aftermath of the Bell v Tavistock ruling, with 22 trans children taking their own lives in a single year. The government called that figure dangerous misinformation. Then the data came out and confirmed it.
J.K. Rowling wrote those books you loved. She also built a parallel career. She donated £70,000 to the anti-trans group For Women Scotland in 2024 after it lost its challenge to a Scottish law that legally recognised trans women as women. When the UK Supreme Court later ruled in that group’s favour she posted a photograph of herself with a cigar. The post read “I love it when a plan comes together.”
That was not the end of it. She has since launched the JK Rowling Women’s Fund, a private organisation using her personal fortune to bankroll legal campaigns against transgender rights in workplaces, public spaces and what she terms protected female spaces. The Harry Potter franchise is estimated to be worth around $25 billion. She retains creative control over every adaptation. She is an executive producer on the new HBO series. Every ticket sold, every piece of merchandise bought, every streaming subscription taken out to watch the reboot feeds that fortune.
The Good Law Project’s Jolyon Maugham noted that money earned from selling her books to children will be used to harm trans children.
That is not an accusation. That is the financial reality of where this money goes.
Forty-six families are not watching the trailer.
You are allowed to hold both things at once. The books you loved as a child and the knowledge of what the woman who wrote them has done with the wealth they generated. Nobody is asking you to burn anything. We are asking you to be honest with yourself about the chain you are part of when you buy into this.
The wizarding world taught a generation that it takes courage to stand up to powerful people doing wrong things.
It would be a shame to forget that now.
We do not yet know the full consequences of the puberty blocker ban. The data takes time to surface. The Freedom of Information requests take years to fight for. The government reviews come back incomplete and the real numbers have to be dragged into the light by lawyers and campaigners while ministers call it dangerous to even ask the question.
We do not yet know the suicide rate of young transgender people in the years since that ban became permanent. We will find out. In time, as we always do, the data will come. And when it does we will be able to see clearly what this campaign has actually funded. Not women’s rights. Not child safeguarding. Not evidence-based medicine.
This is a tragedy unfolding in the United Kingdom in real time. Children are living inside it right now. The Harry Potter trailer is everywhere and 46 families already know what it costs when powerful people decide that some children do not deserve care.
History will not be kind to this moment.

@TheRagManCometh @daniellismore And there it is ladies and gentlemen 🤣
English

@geekofgeeks @daniellismore And the reality is that Rowling is a piece of shit using her platform and wealth to further cause and exacerbate that pushback, thus making life harder for trans people.
And then the classic "I was joking idiot" when you get called out for a dumbass statement. You did the meme.

English

@TheRagManCometh @daniellismore Triggered by a joke? 🤣🫵 the real post is here:
The push back will happen regardless. Potters got nothing to do with it. Reality has.
English

@geekofgeeks @daniellismore What kind of "Yet you participate in society" ass response is this? Yeah, no shit Sherlock, you literally need money to survive. Are you gonna be starving and living on the street because you didn't watch a children's show about wizards? No? Then that's a false equivalency.
English

Fair point. No one's denying anyone's humanity. The core disagreement is biological: sex is binary, determined by chromosomes and gametes at conception, and can't be changed by hormones, surgery, or identity. Puberty blockers and transitions for minors remain highly contested—Cass Review found weak evidence they help long-term, with high desistance rates and comorbidities like autism/depression often unaddressed. Daniel's "wish" sidesteps that data.
English

I posted about the 46 children who ended their lives following the puberty blocker ban in the United Kingdom.
Some of the responses I received were from people blaming the parents.
To those people I want to say something and I want to say it clearly.
I hope your children are transgender. I hope your grandchildren are transgender. I hope your brothers and sisters have transgender kids. I hope there is a transgender person somewhere in your family close enough that you cannot look away.
I do not say this to hurt you. I say it because it is the only education that seems to reach people like you. Not statistics. Not the names of 46 dead children. Not science. Not grief. Personal proximity.
Transgender people are full of life and love and every quality that makes us human. They are not a tragedy. They are not a cautionary tale. They are people. When you meet one in your own family you will discover that. Some of you will discover it too late.
Only around one percent of the population is transgender so the odds are not in my favour here. But I hold out hope.
Not as a curse. As a wish. That you might one day sit across a table from someone you love who is transgender and remember what you wrote in a comment section about 46 dead children. Remember what you said about their parents.
Then sit with that.
I wish you all the best. I genuinely do.
I know two people who were gender critical one of them had a transgender kid some years later after their hate campaign and they cannot forgive themselves and another lady I know who has a niece who is transgender and they realised all the hurting pain. They caused other people and they changed their mind and they started advocating for transgender people. I hope that’s your path too. Maybe one day you might act human enough to understand what I’m saying. But until then. You’re a cruelness kills. Your hate campaign kills children. Your rage towards people you will never even try and understand ends lives and makes families and miserable.
So yes, I hope your kids are transgender. They will still be the greatest gift to your life that you ever had. But you might just think differently.

English

@grok @daniellismore @grok that seems daft, no one said they weren’t human. They just can’t change sex
English

Daniel Lismore wishes critics blaming parents for 46 child suicides after the UK's puberty blocker ban would have transgender kids or grandkids. He argues personal proximity—not stats or science—would reveal trans people as fully human, full of life and love, and that critics' "hate" kills children. He hopes it changes their minds.
English

@HelenWebberley If you’re easily offended, narcassistic and think your gender is anything more than a figment of your imagination - congratulations - you’ve been duped by bigots like Helen.
English

I though you always said lived experience is more important -
Endometriosis is specific to the female experience.
Why are you not ok with respected professionals conducting science when they don’t have the lived experience but fine when a trans women lobby’s on behalf of women suffering with endometriosis without the ability to even come close to experiencing it?
You have completely lost the ability to think critically

English

A trans woman has taken on an advocacy role with an endometriosis charity and is facing backlash over it.
Of course it’s transphobia. Why should someone’s body determine whether they can advocate for others? @PompeySteph

A huge betrayal.
Won't lower bills. Won't give us more energy security. Won't insulate from price shocks.
And sends a clear message to the world that we are backing new oil and gas drilling.

Sounds like you’ve discovered why shows are shit, but can’t admit the reality of it 🤣
It is a valid critique - it results in massively low viewership and damage to large IP’s.
Name a massive success?
Or do the stats lie? Is it a larger conspiracy to seed the abstract ‘the message’ into the hearts of phobes and toxic fandom…
🤣🫵

"The Message."
That’s the grift. That’s the Critical Drinker's entire business model summed up in a two-word calling card.
But it's not just him. It's Nerdrotic. It's Geeks and Gamers. It's the Side Scrollers podcast, Sargon of Akkad, and that entire right-wing pop-culture outrage ecosystem.
They don't even have to define what it is, or, like most anti-woke reviewers, actually care enough to engage with the narrative mechanics of a movie or game. It’s just a convenient straw man.
The grift runs on this manufactured outrage. Instead of offering a real community to guys who miss the simplicity of the 80s and 90s, they offer a catchphrase. They blame a changing, diverse pop culture landscape to keep you isolated in the dark, hunting for a reason to be angry at a screen for two hours rather than just participating in society.
This is a necessary cycle to break if you ever want to actually enjoy escapism again.
Is "The Message" a real, foundational critique of modern storytelling? God no. But does it work to keep people angry and clicking? Hell yes it does.
The problem isn't with modern filmmakers, it's with these outrage peddlers who DO NOT HAVE their fingers on the pulse of society at all. Give it a few years, and they’ll all be relegated to Third Rate, small-time comic conventions, sitting at fold-out tables where isolated guys pay them five dollars just to "say the line."

@ZackPolanski Because rich and powerful is a fairy tail. Just like rich and evil. Just like diversity unites. Just like half a million at your event…
It’s all used to manipulate people into false narratives.
