@SD_Comic_Con @clowchan I was more (pleasantly) shocked that my friends who got in around the 45 min mark still had decent hotels to choose from. You weren’t going to have the Hilton Bayfront or MMM by that point, but seeing places like the Westgate/Sofia wide open was a pleasant surprise
English

Which is also an absolutely fair assessment, and we agree it's not perfect (and have suggestions at the bottom)! Of course the people who got what they wanted will have a sunnier view. But we try to look at overall trends, and it definitely does seem like more people got at least something in this sale than normal.
English

I think it was a very mixed bag. ones who got in under 10 of course will be very positive about it. Some folks like me got in nearly 50 minutes and had to go through a lot to find rooms that weren't single occupancy. There were others who didn't get anything. It needs work.

#SDCC #Hotelpocalypse was today, and... dare we say, it went way better than expected! Our recap and thoughts: sdccblog.com/2026/04/hotelp…
English

@Colleen84 Yeah, in the end we’re still at the mercy of when the lottery system lets us through, but I’ll take having everything laid out for us once we get through than having a SECOND stressful “lol wait and see” time period after that
English

@GeekyHooker Oh, I totally get that. I just think it's crazy how bad the luck of the draw can be in the whole thing. I also feel badly for the panelists & volunteers who have no recourse here.
English

Great recap! There will never be a perfect system, but I’d much rather rip the band-aid off than wait for the onPeak overlords to decide our fates 😅

@X7YoungBlood7X Clearly the PTSD is from finding the hotels to piece together post-hotel sale instead of the moving itself haha. Also not to mention if I found a room from a rando online, then I had the anxiety of making sure they didn’t scam me. So yeah, much prefer this 😅
English

@X7YoungBlood7X Haha it wasn’t my favorite, but it’s doable! Moving from one hotel to another was doable, finding the hotels to piece together sucked SO much more. I’d much rather piecemeal my hotels right away instead of frantically checking to see if anything opens up DAILY on onPeak 😭
English

@Colleen84 Yeah, the biggest hangup is still being at the mercy of whenever the system decides to let you in from the waiting room. :-/ I still would rather know right away that the hotels I wanted were full, instead of entering a bunch of info and then waiting for a rejection email 🫠
English

@GeekyHooker Not one person in our group of five got in before the one-hour mark. By then, Friday & rooms with double beds were sold out almost everywhere. We also have people in our group who get panelist & volunteer badges who couldn't participate bc they don't have their badges yet.
English

@geekandsew BOOOOO glad you still got a downtown room! Badges and hotels are definitely a group effort 😩
English

@GeekyHooker I got in about 30 minutes in and then got an internal server error message and never got in again. 😭 Luckily someone in my group got in about 15 minutes later and got us a downtown hotel, but I think we could have got gaslamp if I got in.
English

@SDCCGuide TBH I was pleasantly surprised that there were still a good amount of hotels available 20-30 mins in. In the old days everything would’ve been gone by that time for sure
English

The #SDCC hotel sale is going slow, so don't give up. I was shocked by getting the Marriott for the first time in 3 years - and I didn't even get in right away. The top hotels are gone but there are still some other downtown hotels available. Hang in there.
