The #SDCC hotel sale is going slow, so don't give up. I was shocked by getting the Marriott for the first time in 3 years - and I didn't even get in right away. The top hotels are gone but there are still some other downtown hotels available. Hang in there.
@SDCCGuide I didn't get in until around the 50 minute mark but i still agree that this system is better. After this 1st year, we now have a better idea of which hotels will still be available after the 10, 20, 30, 40, 50+ minute marks and we can adjust our targets next time.
I have to say, I like this process better than waiting for your #SDCC hotel acceptance letter. It's more efficient and I don't think your odds are any worse. But yes, I did see rooms vanish mid-process - not fun but just had to move on.
@SDCCGuide HARD Disagree. While it might have mitigated the hotel hoarding that happened before, it does not solve the issue of those who have legit passes to go to the event, or work needs, and allows for anyone to snag a hotel for cheap, even if they are not going to SDCC.
@SDCCGuide It also mitigates entering for rooms you don’t plan on reserving since you need to enter payment info. Nobody wants a pending $800 charge without know they’re going for sure
I'll admit - my stomach is in a knot today. Hopefully today isn't a complete bloodbath. Good luck getting the hotel of your #SDCC dreams and try not to stress too much.
@SDCCGuide Now you can book in real time so you'll know if your choices are open. During the checkout, do they save your reservation at the hotel until you check out or can you lose the spot during check out? If so, then you'll have to start over again? #anxiety
Again - study up on the new #SDCC hotel process if you haven't yet. Talk to your comrades. Some people I've spoken to had zero idea of the changes. Comicconguide.com.
@SDCCGuide Yep, every year, people suddenly surprised that things have changed. It’s like, i get it if you’re a noob but if not, you should KNOW to expect the unexpected! 😂
@SDCCGuide I’d prefer not to get one far away since then I probably won’t be leaving the hotel at see any of the outside stuff on the days I didn’t get a badge for.
