@genXcessive @Forrest_LDS @sola_chad The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has a specific process to establish binding doctrine over the entire church.
Something a leader says, even the prophet, does not automatically become binding doctrine without being unanimously ratified by *all* of the apostles.
English

@BookMormonBrah Do you still want me to answer that, or did you look it up and find out I’m right?
English

This is what you get when you believe in sola scriptura.

The fact that Mormons believe Jesus came to America is still mind boggling to me
English

@BookMormonBrah @WhiteZionUSA That sounds like a loaded question but whatever. It is the “ultimate 🙄” source for knowledge that matters to our existence.
English

@genXcessive @WhiteZionUSA Do you believe that scripture is the ultimate source of knowledge?
English

@B_LO_BTC @jontheharris @spiderking232 I got my answer: the Book of Mormon is obviously false.
Your trick only works on the naive who can be manipulated by in-person peer pressure.
You're basically a scammer trying to appeal to emotion.
English

@jontheharris @spiderking232 @genXcessive I don’t have to prove anything…read it, pray about it, and you can get your own answer
English

Honest question…why wouldn’t He?

English

@bqiipd @Forrest_LDS @sola_chad I’m confused, if a prophet said it shouldn’t it be taken as the word of god?
English

@genXcessive @Forrest_LDS @sola_chad It’s based on popular speculation. Latter-day Saints actually have very little dogma they have to affirm. This leaves a lot of room for various theories and speculation. So while I’m sure you can find Latter-day Saints who hold that belief, it’s not a requirement to be a member.
English

@genXcessive @B_LO_BTC Literally.
The only time Jesus calls anyone other than the Devil himself satan is when he rebuke's Peter for denying what he is actively prophecying of.
English

@spiderking232 @B_LO_BTC You don’t get to be God’s messenger without some proof that God wants you to be His messenger.
Either give us a sign that your prophets are real, or get behind me, Satan.
English

@genXcessive @B_LO_BTC "A Bible, a Bible, we have a bible and need no more bible."
Who are you to tell God to shut up? The only one here comparable to Satan is you.
English

A Catholic priest who undergoes at least 10 years of rigorous spiritual, academic, and pastoral formation is who you are comparing to your “pastor” who spent a few months in discipleship school or whatever you choose to call it?
Perhaps it’s time to remind you that the very reason you celebrate Easter on the 5th of April is because of the Catholic Church, the same church you spend all day criticizing.
If you think the Catholic Church is “too boring,” then you are free to leave.
The Church is not here to entertain you or to tell you only what you want to hear.
If it’s excitement and feel-good messages you’re after, there are plenty of Protestant churches that will gladly provide that.
But understand this clearly: if you reject the Eucharist,if you reject the Blessed Sacrament, you are rejecting Jesus Christ Himself.
And that is the truth.

English

@genXcessive If you were a true follower of Christ, you would read the book…
English

@B_LO_BTC Not knowing everything God has done doesn’t give you license to make baseless claims about God’s actions.
You’re doing the same thing pro-LGBTQ churches do: make a claim about God, say it’s probably true because it sounds right, then say you can’t tell God otherwise.
English

@genXcessive How do you know He didn’t? I don’t pretend to tell God what He is allowed to do…
English

@WhiteZionUSA @BookMormonBrah All that word salad just to say: Using scripture to find ultimate truth, bad.
To which I disagree.
English

@genXcessive @BookMormonBrah Strange for supposed sola scriptura folks to import Greek metaphysics into their interpretations about God. I must have missed the part where Jesus said he was only being representative about his mortally subordinate role to the source of all emanation?
English

@BebopJosh @sola_chad Maybe ask yourself why your church is sending out the least qualified people to be missionaries. What agenda does that serve?
English

@sola_chad He rebuked a kid who is still learning.
Our missionaries don’t know everything. That’s why they are missionaries. To learn how to serve God.
Pwning one of them is like winning a fist fight with a kindergarten.
Well done. Try that with an adult sometime.
English

@simonsnathank @MidwesternSaint @farmingandJesus Since we can’t remember being alive before this life, it’s safe to assume we didn’t exist in any form before our conception.
The same can be said for Adam, there’s no reason to believe he existed in any form before his creation.
English

@genXcessive @MidwesternSaint @farmingandJesus Created Adam’s physical body. Where did the spirit come from?
English

@genXcessive @sola_chad That isn’t even canonized doctrine… it’s not ever taught in the church.
English

@MidwesternSaint @simonsnathank @farmingandJesus I suppose if God had told us there was only one disciple in the same way He told us there is only one God, then we would have had to define what we call that disciple.
But that’s not the case.
English

@genXcessive @simonsnathank @farmingandJesus So how would you interpret Christ praying that His disciples be one in the same way that the Son and the Father are one? Is He saying that they're actually of one substance, 12 persons in one being? Doesn't pass the sniff test.
English

@genXcessive @simonsnathank @farmingandJesus What in my answer do you disagree with? Please be explicit.
Also note for future reference that we don't believe the Father, the Son, or the Holy Ghost are created beings.
English

@MidwesternSaint @simonsnathank @farmingandJesus If I had to answer that question it would just be “false”, God has no creator. God has never sinned, God has never needed a savior.
English

@genXcessive @simonsnathank @farmingandJesus Surely even you would agree it's at least a little true. Christ was once fully human like us, and He came to Earth to make us joint-heirs of God with Christ and to make us like He is (Romans 8:16-17, John 17:22-23, Romans 8:29, 1 John 3:2, 2 Peter 1:3-4, Matthew 5:48).
English

@MidwesternSaint @simonsnathank @farmingandJesus True or False,
“As man now is, God once was; as God now is, man may be.”
English

@genXcessive @simonsnathank @farmingandJesus I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Christ's restored Church and the Kingdom of God on earth.
Like I said, I believe 100% of what the Gospels in the NT teach about Christ, as does every faithful Latter-day Saint. My understanding was that was enough.
