@DougTenNapel "blessings of liberty" does not strike me as particularly non-religious language. Seems to strongly suggest an agreed-upon belief in the existence of a Blesser.

We were founded on freedom. You can't have freedom if the country is not established in Christianity because no other religion (including an atheocracy) would tolerate any other religion's freedom. You couldn't establish America on Islam's definition of freedom.

America wasn't "founded to protect Christian worship." The United States of America was founded to "provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare of and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity." It's right there in writing.

@flyfoxpro I'm reminded now that it actually combines elements of two unrelated sets of books by different authors...but the series I was thinking of was the Gordon R. Dickson Dragon Knight series, not the singular book that the film's title was taken from...

Eowyn's is without a doubt Tolkien's most complex character. One could write an entire book on her despair, her pursuit of death and glory, her great bravery, the vanity of it all, and her ultimate redemption.
(Turin might rival her complexity, but I think he's second)

@mattcrotts Tbh i think that's part of the point... when you can pick your kid's DNA from the CRISPR menu, what defines "acceptable" changes, and you can dehumanize someone as lesser even the most micro of "flaws."
