I abandoned this virtual swamp a while back but I've dragged my heels on the transition to the blue butterfly app. Finally made the move today. If anyone is still on this thing and wants to find me there, my link is below. It's been real✌🏽 bsky.app/profile/anahit…

The idea of putting a number on “How powerful is your story?” sounds somewhat absurd, BUT here are the two (and only two) narrative metrics I’ve found to be useful, intuitive, robust, accurate, and meaningful. abtagenda.substack.com/p/the-two-narr…

I’ve been a hospital chaplain now for eight years at hundreds of deathbeds. I want to tell you something I’ve witnessed. Most people, at the end, realize they’ve spent a lot of their life hiding. Sometimes by choice, or because they could not safely choose to be themselves. ➡️

This #acwri thread is 💯 spot on. Point #5 is esp critical (to me). As an editor, my goal is to improve your doc(s), yes, ✨AND✨ to help you understand the rationale behind my edits so that you grow more empowered as a writer.

As an academic writing coach, here are the 7 mistakes I see supervisors and PIs make in the process of co-writing a paper with their PhD students or mentees. A thread. 🧵 #AcademicTwitter #PIchat #newPI

My phone rang, and it was a local number I didn't recognize, and I didn't answer but I thought "This is the phone call that's going to change my life!" And then I listened to the voice message. It was just the dentist reminding me I needed to come in for a cleaning.

As students, especially historically marginalized ones, are making their grad school lists, I implore you NOT to chose programs solely based on how “prestigious” the institution is. Talk to Black and Brown, queer, disabled, etc people who are currently in, graduated from, or

Oof—good news wrapped up with incredibly terrible news. To know that there might be a treatment that could save your life *if only you could afford it* is a special form of hell 💔 Treatments should be accessible to all. #MentalHealthMatters #MentalHealthAwareness #HealthEquity

Let the puns fly as @PairwisePL launches the first food introduced in the U.S. that uses CRISPR gene editing—in this case, to disable some of the genes that make highly nutritious raw mustard greens too spicy for most people to eat as a salad. In grocery stores this summer.
WIRED@WIRED

Scientists at gene editing startup, Pairwise Plants used the DNA-editing tool Crispr to make mustard greens that are less bitter in hopes consumers will opt for its greens over less nutritious ones like iceberg and butter lettuce. Next up: fruits. wired.trib.al/ynzWi8Y

So proud of my love @heyyfernanda for sharing her story on (racemic) #ketamine. Is it a perfect drug? No. Does it works for everyone? No. Is it risk free? Also no. Did it save her life in the face of unrelenting suicidality? 100% yes. To me, that is everything ❤️
Science Vs@sciencevs

Ketamine. It's everywhere. On social media, you can't scroll through your ex's family photos without getting an ad for this stuff. So we're diving into a science K-hole to find out: who can it actually help? And are there any risks? open.spotify.com/episode/0ehsyX…

Had to hop back on my personal Twitter to give a huge shoutout to @MandanaArbab & @ZanetaMatuszek today because this work is ✨beautiful✨, and I had so much fun witnessing its progress behind the scenes. Also, a shoutout to @oreillymk for her work on the figures! 😍

Excited to share our work on genome editing for SMA in @ScienceMagazine! We evaluated dozens of strategies targeting SMN2 regulatory sequences to rescue SMN levels, and show that one-time in vivo co-administration of our top strategy with nusinersen extends lifespan of SMA mice.
