This is not charity. This is solidarity. Solidarity means recognizing that the people creating knowledge, art, and testimony also need care. It means refusing to consume the labor of those living through crisis while leaving them to #survive that #crisis alone.

If something I have written has helped you name what you could not name before, understand something you had struggled to see, or find language for experiences that were previously invisible, then I am asking you to help sustain the conditions that allow this work to continue.

Not because suffering makes something meaningful, but because the labor of witnessing, documenting, creating, and telling the truth is labor.

This work has value. My scholarship has value. My prose has value. My poetry has value. My art has value.

Too often, #disabled and marginalized creators are expected to transform pain into knowledge, trauma into art, and crisis into something useful for others without anyone asking what it costs us to keep producing.

The writing continues because it matters. The analysis continues because silence has always been a tool of power. The storytelling continues because our lives, our histories, and our survival are not disposable. But survival is not the same thing as sustainability.

It is created while navigating illness, disability, displacement, caregiving, and the endless administrative labor required just to remain here.

The essays, the frameworks, the research, the prose, the poetry, the art, the photographs, the words themselves, none of this comes from a place untouched by struggle.

An interruption. A necessary one. Before you continue reading, I need to ask something of community. My household is in the middle of our thirteenth forced displacement. We have until noon to secure other motel rooms or we lose what little stability we have managed to create.

Six disabled adults are trying to survive inside a system that repeatedly turns housing, healthcare, and safety into things we have to fight to prove we deserve. This is not separate from the work. It is part of it.

6/ Platner published his own rape apologia in 2013. The man had a documented, written belief system about victims taking responsibility, and when a victim came forward, his media allies ran her texts as the story.

Yesterday our post on Politico’s reporting on the sexual assault allegations against Graham Platner was intended to summarize reporting Ryan Grim discussed on Breaking Points regarding details Politico omitted from its story. The language of our post left the impression that text messages by Platner's accuser Jenny Racicot are relevant to whether she was raped or in any way justify the alleged assault she described.
