Panel moderated by @theBIMsider on Open Source and it’s place in the industry. Free=gratis vs libra=open source. Freedom of use and the community culture are the heart of open source. #biltanz

#BILTANZ is only a few days away. I am all packed up for an early morning pick up at the airport. Positives of travelling by to a BILT Conference, I can bring my footy. Going to be some outdoor recreation. Also there is a great pool, so don’t forget your bathing suit.

@b_tokarzewski @ifcdoctor Sure, well you might now try BlenderBIM (I haven't yet) but I'm not really aware of anyone else supporting this. I discussed with a number of the big software vendors (possibly not the right people at these vendors) but I wasn't very persuasive. Geometry Gym has a Revit plugin.

I was searching for the spot in the #IFC schema that specifies that a project must have a site/building/storey but didn't find it. Is there a formal rule at all?

@ifcdoctor Do you know any application that support these classes and enable creating or importing famies with parametric geometry?

Are you using linked models in Revit to efficiently model repetitive elements? If you need to author IFC, then the Geometry Gym IFC enhanced exporter can directly faciliate this without binding or other counter productive measures. lnkd.in/gkXZAJ3C #openBIM #IFC #revit

@jmanooch @gschleusner @HyparAEC I'd like to understand more about how Elements is an extensible schema model that can't be done with IFC. I see the description here, #why-not-use-ifc" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">github.com/hypar-io/eleme… Why does IFC not enable the same? Twitter is likely not the best discussion medium.

Why people complain about IFC. Do nearly every thing as proxy. Don't give things names... charge for the "feature" .
