Liverpool finishing closer to 14th than the top of the table. 5th place. The worst defence of a Premier League campaign in recent memory.

@ZACWILSON_ Had a 23-weeker born January 2025. I became convinced watching games in the hospital meant we lost so had to go home for them 😂

I’ve never spoken about this publicly, so bear with me. But I want to articulate why this Premier League win for Arsenal isn’t ’just football’. In July 2025, my son was born with a rare condition called CDH. It’s a hernia that forms in the diaphragm, which means that the major organs develop in the chest cavity. This puts extreme pressure on the development of the lungs. We were told throughout the pregnancy that he had a 30-40% chance of survival. We had to wait until my partner gave birth to see whether he would make it or not. He had life saving surgery on day 5 of his life - and we endured a 2 month stay in a hospital in London. At times we were told that he might not make it through the night - but by the grace of god, and throughout a rollercoaster of ups and downs he survived the intensive care process. During that time was the start of the Premier League season - and the one escape that I had was Arsenal football club. We had been at hospital for a month, and hadn’t left the hospital grounds. We were there 24/7. I felt so guilty leaving him, but made the choice to find a local pub and watch Arsenal’s season opening game against Man United. And for that 90 minutes, I was able to escape the pain and sadness. Watching Arsenal become the one thing that helped me escape, even for just 90 minutes over the course of those few months. We needed a name for my boy. Something to signify strength, courage and being brave hearted. We chose Leo. He was born on the 19th July. Leandro (Leo - number 19) Trossard’s goal against West Ham. That historic goal. Will forever live in a lot of people’s memories forever. For me, it felt like destiny. Leo is now thriving. And in his first season as an Arsenal fan, he’s been spoilt. Football means so much to all of us. This football club means so much to us. It’s more than just a game. It shapes people’s lives, their character. It’s hope, it’s escape, it’s proof that hard work pays off. Whatever your reason is for loving this club and loving football - enjoy every single second of this joy. This one is for you, son. 🦁

Congratulations to Arsenal for finally winning the league after two decades, a billion pound spent, multiple incorrect refereeing decisions, cheating, time wasting, demoralising football, dirty tactics. You sold your soul and identity for it, but enjoy it nevertheless

@NorthBankNadim It’s also very strange to select someone for an individual award for getting lots of assists…something that requires someone else to score.

Being frank… Football writers prove week after week that they are both biased and stupid. More often than not, their predictions are wrong and their pieces are agenda-fuelled and evade truth. So why on earth do we expect them to be able to pick a player of the season well?

Much like the Proteas, Arsenal don't make big finals like this often. Therefore, when it does happen, fans can celebrate. Here you are, celebrating South African teams reaching finals before knowing the result. Is that "small team mentality?"

I dont follow football much so im a bit confused coz I'm seeing tons of Arsenal celebrations on my timeline today... Did Arsenal actually win a trophy or are the fans celebrating just getting to a final?🤔 #Arsenal #SmallTeamMentality

Football needs a long look at itself, its Laws, its consistency of application, officiating standards and use of VAR when you can pull an opponent’s hair and get a three-game ban and go in hard on an opponent, endangering them, Keane on Doku, and get just a yellow 🤷 #EVEMCI

I have to speak. I came away from this with less optimism than I did losing at City. That's weird right? We lost that game, and won this one... I just cannot help but see a team with so much talent, but it's not playing, nor has it been for some time, like it has that talent.

It’s one thing to not comment on the club’s 115+ charges. But at least be indifferent as a leading journalist. To praise a club that has cheated the entire league for many years, allowing it to operate financially by its own rules, is just fucking bizarre and always will be.

Kudos to Manchester City for freezing ticket prices following consultations with fans. Shows the importance of engaging with fans’ networks like City Matters. Kudos to @BroadstockLee @citymattersreps @WeAre1894. City have listened to fans which not enough clubs do. City are a wealthy club, it’s good PR, but it’s also the right thing to do. Fans bring the noise, the atmosphere, the mood boosts for players. Fans bring the backdrop that TV pays billions for. Clubs should show respect to fans and be measured in ticketing policies, especially given economic pressures on fans. City say they have “taken the approach in recognition of the extraordinary accumulated impact of the current cost of living pressures on fans and their families”. Still issues like those loyal fans being moved to accommodate corporates (club currently emailing fans of details). But, overall, City deserve praise. The introduction of 4,000 “Flexi-Season Tickets”, with 50% ringfenced for juniors, should definitely be welcomed. They are the future. Simplifying the ticket transfer policy makes sense and is fairer. “Fans will be able to list up to 18 friends and family, regardless of membership status, and can do this at any point throughout the season if they are unable to attend a match”. Makes it easier to hit the 10 mandatory games. Fans’ group 1894 “welcomes today's announcement from the club which is in direct contrast to other clubs in the Premier League who have been raising their match ticket and season ticket prices. It is undoubtedly a win for the fans and a vindication for the benefits of collective action across the fan base”. Main points of City announcement below... 👇 #MCFC

@Alan_Alger_ Exactly. We bring on Eze then inexplicably hoof it over his head. There’s no passing between the lines so take away the strengths of the forwards running into space.

All the chickens coming home to roost in one go. Makes it even harder to swallow. An utterly demented approach to that type of game. The attention to game state, decision making and basic restarts of possession and pass choices… to wasting time with our own throws and goal kicks. Need a long hard look at themselves very quickly as the games keep coming, hope it’s not too late. #AFC
