Over the weekend, my alma mater, Adisadel College, marked its 116th Anniversary in conjunction with its Speech and Prize Giving Day. It was a profound honour to return to the institution that moulded and shaped me, this time as Guest of Honour for such an august occasion. In my address, I reflected on my own journey as a student—those formative years when the future seemed uncertain, yet through hard work, discipline, and resilience, we persevered and made ADISCO proud. I have never ceased to acknowledge the invaluable training I received as a Santaclausian, for it is that foundation which has prepared me for every leadership role I have undertaken. I urged the current students to embrace diligence and accountability, reminding them that excellence is the surest way to honour our alma mater and sustain its tradition of raising principled, astute men who contribute meaningfully to their communities, corporate Ghana, and the nation at large. Play Up, Play Up, Santaclausians!

Highlights from the launch of the 2026 edition of the MTN SME Accelerate Programme. Now in its third year, this initiative is part of MTN’s broader strategy to strengthen the SME ecosystem and drive economic growth in Ghana. On behalf of the government, I expressed our commitment to empowering youth-founded and youth-led SMEs by providing the skills and support they need. I had an engaging meeting with the organizers of the @yalemodelauconf at the @mydeghana on Wednesday, 11 March. The discussion focused on potential areas of collaboration for the programme and how young people in Ghana can get involved. The YMAU conference is the first Ivy League-hosted Model African Union event and the first collegiate Model UN Conference organized by an American university in Africa. The next edition will be held in Ghana, from 13 to 15 March 2026. #YouthPower

Government approves the payment of salary arrears owed to nurses and midwives recruited in the 2024/2025 year.

I visited the Design and Technology Institute (DTI) to learn about their facilities. I was warmly welcomed by Ms. Constance Swaniker, the Founder and President of the Institute. During my visit, I toured DTI’s modern facilities, including the American Welding Society Centre, the Design Innovation Studio, and the training workshops. On 12 February 2026, the @mydeghana paid a courtesy visit to the Christian Council of Ghana. The Council is a key stakeholder in youth development, and the church across Ghana has been instrumental in equipping young people with training, mentorship, and essential resources. In recognition of this work, the Ministry seeks to strengthen collaboration to expand youth access to flagship initiatives such as Adwumawura and the National Apprenticeship Programme, enabling more young people to gain practical skills and sustainable livelihoods. #YouthPower #JobsForYoungPeople

The maiden management retreat of the @mydeghana began on Wednesday, February 4th. This retreat is part of our strategic approach to the new year as we plan to revamp various initiatives under the Ministry. During the sessions, the various teams will present their vision for the year for peer review and feedback. The Adwumawura Grant Management Committee was officially inaugurated yesterday, marking a major step in the implementation of the initiative. The Committee, comprising representatives from corporate Ghana, academia, the development sector, and key state agencies, has been entrusted with the critical responsibility of selecting over 2,000 viable businesses to benefit from the grant. Beyond the selection process, the Committee will oversee the disbursement of funds and ensure that all beneficiaries utilise the resources effectively and responsibly. On behalf of the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment, I had the honour of handing over sixteen pickup trucks to the National Youth Authority yesterday. These vehicles will enhance the Authority’s capacity to mobilize participants and monitor activities under the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP). The trucks will be handed over to the programme's 16 regional coordinators. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama for his unwavering commitment to this initiative and for remaining true to his pledge to empower Ghana’s youth. To round off a productive day yesterday, we engaged the Board of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP). While other agencies focus on employability, NEIP focuses on the employers. We sat down with the Board to streamline our approach to business acceleration for the coming year. Key on the agenda was the implementation of the Adwumawura Programme and how we can improve access to funding and markets for our beneficiaries. Efficient oversight here is crucial. We are committed to ensuring the NEIP Board is agile enough to support the dreams of Ghana’s next generation of business tycoons. #YouthPower #JobsForYoungPeople

The @_nsagh manages our nation's largest annual intake of human capital. Today, we met with the NSA Board to ensure that we are on the right path, the Reset path. ​The Service year should be a stepping stone, not a gap year. Consequently, our strategic review centered on adding value to the personnel. We challenged the Board to look beyond mere deployment numbers and focus on the quality of the service experience. We discussed strategies to align deployment with actual industrial needs, ensuring that personnel gain employable skills that serve them long after their service is over. ​National service is the final transition point for our graduates, and we are committed to making it a success. #YouthPower #JobsForYoungPeople

Following our engagement with the NYA, we continued our strategic review sessions yesterday with the Board of the @yeaghana. While policy is set at the Ministry level, it's the Board’s responsibility to drive execution and demand results. Our discussion centered on the pressing need to expand employment opportunities and ensure value for money in our existing modules. We reviewed the different modules to confirm they genuinely promote sustainable livelihoods, not just temporary engagement. The YEA's mandate is directly linked to the economic survival of our youth. Therefore, this annual strategic session with the Board isn't merely an administrative formality; it's meant to accelerate job creation and secure the economic future of our beneficiaries. #YouthPower #JobsForYoungPeople
