there is a bonus additional hard problem in computer science: deriving a few characters for monogram avatars. first one or two characters in a string? what about first/last name? do you force capitalize it? what about names formatted in languages you haven't designed for?

@Rubenerd It is hard to feel as connected here now. Admittedly, I only open Twitter to self-promote. 😔 I have also made really good friends here and kept existing friendships going, but sentimentality stops me from “leaving” (and it’s not like I want to “make a statement” by doing so).

@femkesvs I call them both a saucepan and then end up correcting myself with “frying pan” or “pot”. I’m a first gen Australian. I call lots of kitchen items the wrong things—I suspect my parents picked up the incorrect name because of what they called them in their language.
