@CraiG_Mc Agree 100%. It’s a fact we ignored last year too. Essendon’s 2026 list averaged just 23.7 years old and 58.3 games. That is young and inexperienced, not some finished product.

Not making any excuses, and I’ll probably cop some flack for my glass-half-full perspective. But we are a team that is young, a team that is still developing, and one that has a lot of growth left in it. We are still far from the finished product. That’s not an excuse, it’s a fact. We need to be prepared and accept that we may have nights like this against quality top-four or top-five opposition. Yes, it’s not the night us fans hoped for, but if we’re being honest and level-headed about it, I think we can all agree it wasn’t out of the realms of possibility. We will be a team that at times looks like a top-10 side and then at other times looks like a bottom-four side. That’s just where we’re at in our development. It’s a long season. Hopefully we can build some continuity, find some consistency, grow in confidence, and give ourselves something to be hopeful about for the future. #GoDons
