Kemarin dimulai jam 8 pagi ketemu customer, lalu meeting sampai siang, siang ke sore ngelatih di Bintaro, sampai rumah jam 9 malam, ketemu customer lagi sampai jam 11 malam, jam 12 malam lanjut ngerjain task sampai jam 2 pagi, diakhiri dengan tahajud. Alhamdulillah 🙏

Global investment in AI is projected to surge to USD 160 billion by 2025, led overwhelmingly by the US and China. Yet, 84% of the world, including most of Southeast Asia, remains structurally unprepared. Basic electrification, limited compute access, and high energy costs continue to stall participation. Take Indonesia. With electricity consumption still hovering at 1,300 kWh per capita (compared to 10,000 kWh in advanced economies), can we meaningfully shape the AI discourse? Not under current conditions. The global race in AI sets a high bar, but it’s not out of reach. To rise to the challenge, we must: 1. Invest boldly in education and infrastructure as the foundation of progress, 2. Optimize the intersection between power and talent, 3. Foster competitiveness, 4. Decentralize economic activity, to unlock growth beyond capital cities. Only then can we harness the full potential of technologies like AI. With the right mix of policy vision, regional cooperation, and private-sector innovation, Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia, can close the gap faster than many expect.

With technology advancing rapidly, we must ask: what role will Southeast Asia play? Often seen as mere adopters, can we instead shape a development model that’s inclusive, sustainable, and rooted in our own context? In a world where global narratives define modernization, Southeast Asia must carve its own path. The region faces urgent challenges: - A development-sustainability paradox, with 50% of global geothermal potential still untapped. - Shifts in manufacturing (“robo-facturing” and “inno-facturing”) that risk reinforcing global dependencies. - Institutional and capital systems ill-equipped for rapid technological change Yet, the way forward is clear: - Search and attract economic and techonlogical capital while innovate respectively, in which we have to adress the sub-optimal structures and foster technological advancements. - Increase international collaboration, while at the same time connect the regional ambitions with those of global innovation and investment. Embody being the swing & stable region that maximise option value. - Build flexible and responsive institutional frameworks, and create in creating inclusive policies that decentralize tech access. It was an honor to host the Southeast Asia Summit on Prosperity and Sustainability at Stanford University along with colleagues of Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, @StanfordEnergy, and Woods Institute for the Environment.
