25 Days of War
257 Incidents of Settler Violence Against Palestinians
Since the outbreak of the war with Iran, an average of more than ten incidents of settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank have been reported each day. Including physical assaults, property damage, and land takeovers. Last week, organized mass violence, in other words pogroms, took place at dozens of locations following the death of an Israeli settler.
Over the past 25 days, settlers shot and killed six Palestinians in the West Bank. Three of those killed were shot by settlers wearing Israeli military uniforms. Five more Palestinians were shot and killed by soldiers. To the best of Yesh Din’s knowledge, none of the settlers or soldiers who carried out the shootings have been arrested.
The violence took place in 116 Palestinian communities, and over the past week, also on major roads across the West Bank.
*The data is based on cross-checking public reports and publications from various sources.
Behind the statistic of more than ten incidents every day are the Palestinian victims of violence who are abandoned by the Israeli security forces and law enforcement authorities, leaving them defenseless and without justice. The pogroms we saw last week, in which dozens and perhaps even hundreds of Israelis participated, were met with minimal enforcement by the authorities, who failed to prepare in advance, enforce the law during the attacks, and investigate and hold perpetrators accountable. All of this indicates a systematic policy of state support for this violence, and in practice, support for transfer and ethnic cleansing.
Yesh Din calls on the international community to act to protect Palestinian civilians, given that the Israeli authorities are not providing the protection they are obligated to provide.
