Allow me to say that if it weren’t for us, you would be speaking French.” But the king didn’t just joke — he also reminded Trump about support for Ukraine and the role of NATO. Overall, Charles devoted his entire speech to subtly trolling Trump — in a very British way, so refined that it went right over the heads of MAGA supporters. They even applauded him for it! A British king and an American jester — that says it all. I love British humor!

Kier Starmer was visiting a very small village in the UK, and asked the villagers what the government could do for them. "We have two big needs" said the village spokesman. "First, we Have a health centre, but no doctor." Het grote probleem in Nederland wordt gevormd door de @VVD . Deze partij nestelt al jaren in het centrum van de macht en is verantwoordelijk voor vele problemen van nu. Het is een parasitaire club die zo laag is dat ze zelfs met Geertje in zee gingen. VVD moet een keer oprotten.

BREAKING: WE LOVE IT! Preservation group REFUSES a White House request to drop its lawsuit against Trump's ballroom in the wake of the alleged assassination attempt over the weekend. Trump tried to exploit the incident and it went over like a lead balloon... “I write to acknowledge receipt of your letter requesting that the National Trust for Historic Preservation in the United States (‘National Trust’) dismiss the above-captioned lawsuit,” Gregory B. Craig, a lawyer for the National Trust for Historic Preservation, wrote in a letter to the Justice Department. “That lawsuit seeks to require the President to secure authorization from Congress—as mandated by the Constitution and federal law—before undertaking further construction on the proposed ballroom. The National Trust respectfully declines the invitation to dismiss,” he added. Trump's DOJ asked the group to abandon its lawsuit on Sunday, citing the "extraordinary events" at the White House Correspondents' Dinner during which a gunman allegedly attempted to gain entry to the event to target Trump officials. Immediately after the incident, social media was flooded by prominent MAGA influencers and Republicans like Meghan McCain screeching that the alleged attack proves that Trump needs his ballroom. The digital push was so uniform, sudden, and widespread that it seems likely that the messaging was pushed by the administration through secure group chats. Trump himself rushed to hold a press conference after the dinner was aborted. Rather than using the opportunity to apologize for his own inflammatory rhetoric or attempting to turn down the national temperature, he launched into a rant about why he needs his ballroom. Of course, the Correspondents' Dinner has absolutely nothing to do with Trump's wasteful $400 million ballroom. The event was hosted by the White House Correspondents’ Association, not the White House itself, so even if the ballroom were already built it would not have been hosted there. Furthermore, the only thing that this incident proves is that Trump's security was lax. This is an administration characterized by incompetence from top to bottom. This is just another example of that trend. Earlier today, Senator Lindsey Graham suggested that taxpayers might actually end up footing the bill for the ballroom rather than the corrupt corporate donors that Trump originally touted. That must be a complete nonstarter. It's bad enough that Trump has torn down a historic section of the People's House. We aren't paying for his hideous vanity project. Oppakken, rondje rijden, vrijlaten. Zo maak je van de rechtsstaat een taxi Vierhonderd aanhoudingen. En toch geen boete. Geen gevolg. Geen grens. Wat hier gebeurt, is geen handhaving. Dit is logistiek. De politie als pendeldienst tussen snelweg en Overvecht. De blokkade van de A12 door Extinction Rebellion was geen spontane samenkomst. Het was aangekondigd, herhaald, georganiseerd. Iedereen wist wat er zou gebeuren. Inclusief de overheid. Inclusief de politie. En toch stond het verkeer weer stil, zaten hulpdiensten klem, en liep de situatie opnieuw uit de hand. En daarna? Bus in. Ritje. Deur open. Fijne dag verder. Dat roept een simpele vraag op. Als er geen consequenties zijn, waarom zou iemand stoppen? De uitleg is juridisch netjes. Aanhouden mag om de orde te herstellen. Vasthouden om de weg vrij te maken. Maar zonder vervolging of boete blijft er niets over van normhandhaving. Dan is de boodschap helder: wie hard genoeg volhoudt, komt ermee weg. Minister Vincent Karremans zegt “0,0 begrip” te hebben. Mooie woorden. Maar woorden zonder vervolg zijn ruis. Begrip is niet het probleem. Handhaving is dat wel. Het wringt op meerdere niveaus. De brave burger die zich aan de regels houdt, ziet dat blokkeren loont. De politie wordt ingezet zonder dat het iets oplost. En de volgende actie staat al gepland. Iedereen weet hoe het script verloopt. Waarschuwen. Vorderen. Oppakken. Wegbrengen. Vrijlaten. Herhalen. Dit is geen rechtsstaat die grenzen stelt. Dit is een rechtsstaat die onderhandelt met overtreders en structureel verliest. En ja, demonstreren is een grondrecht. Maar een snelweg blokkeren is dat niet. Dat is het willens en wetens ontwrichten van de openbare orde en het in gevaar brengen van anderen. Daar hoort een grens bij. En een sanctie. Zonder die grens ontstaat willekeur. Want waarom hier geen boete, maar elders wel? Waarom deze groep faciliteren, terwijl andere overtreders direct de rekening krijgen? Dat is het begin van selectieve handhaving. En daar verdampt vertrouwen. De pijnlijke conclusie is simpel. Niet XR bepaalt hoe ver ze gaan. De overheid bepaalt dat, door niet in te grijpen waar het moet. Of scherper gezegd: Als overtreden geen prijs heeft, is het geen overtreding meer. Dan is het beleid. En dan op 2 mei weer hetzelfde toneel?
