$150,000 a year sounds like a lot until it has to cover a mortgage or rent, health insurance, childcare, groceries, car payments, taxes, and whatever debt it took to get there. In a lot of America, that income is not rich anymore. It is the new version of stable if nothing goes wrong.

atlassian is a steal at $23B for OAI or Anthropic, at $1T market cap for both, its 2.3% of market cap to get a massive amount of the highest quality real world software engineering training data

How does Waymo pricing even make sense at this point where it’s 2x of a Lyft and I see so many Waymos go empty on the street all the time.

@bnafOg I get that, but current model is >6 months old, which is forever in AI years. IMO getting a refresh will help boost the upstream closed source versions

@gethackteam gpt-oss is downstream of the commercial API roadmap. GPT-5.5's agentic layer shipped to paying API customers first — the OSS wrapper tracks what OpenAI monetizes, not what enterprises need. Popularity doesn't create update priority when the incentive loop runs the other way.

Coding agents and LLMs are getting better, but it’s often a hit or miss. Some coding agents overengineer by design, others don’t seem to be consistent at all. Let’s not forget about how often they reinvent the wheel, instead of using existing libraries. That’s why I don’t buy the idea that coding no longer matters.
