I’m so absolutely freaking tired of waking up to a freshly rebooted machine because Windows, not me, decided installing updates I absolutely do not care about was more important than preserving my debugging state. Whoever is in charge of this at MS should be fired.

who really needs a database any more? I'm just gonna store all my customer data in an LLM.

@VakomSunrunner @dinosaurs1969 I agree there's a weird over-indexing on the order of the letters and not understanding the concept of order of operations. but in this case, the wrong 36 answer is not due to that. it's incorrect "distributive property" (negation) here: (40)-(0)+(4) (40)-(0+4) <-- wrong

@TheDumbTechGuy obviously in theory zipper merge is best, but in practice it's a Frankenstein jumble of competing motives with everyone shoving their way ahead and is a nightmare of inefficiency. all because you cannot actually count on collective cooperation no matter how sensible/right it is.

@TheDumbTechGuy zipper merge is an utter failure when most/all people are not collectively cooperating for the better good... when not cooperating, in fact it turns the already in the merged lane resentful against those in the not merged lane for "cheating" to get an ahead.

You can waste a lot of tokens on tasks like creating a new endpoint. Without a Database MCP, your agent will: 1. Search for table info — if entities exist, it reads them and maps relationships. If not, it scans the codebase to infer the schema. 2. Generate and test queries. 3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 multiple times. With a Database MCP, the agent can do all of this in a single action: - get the tables list - inspect columns and relationships - test queries Then it can directly write the code.

Feel like I'm missing out because I don't use skills, or a lot of MCP, or multi-agent orchestrations when using AI dev tools. I'm just like "implement this feature" or "how do this work" or "no not like that, do this instead". Idk, I feel fast and accurate so why change?

@straceX it would seem maybe the answer to my question is, when you're doing CLI program piping and for some reason in the chain you need a bunch of zeros. but not really inside a real program, where there's much more efficient/proper ways to make zeroes. yes?

Linux has a file that contains an infinite number of zeros. It's called /dev/zero. You can read a terabyte from it, a petabyte, more bytes than any disk could store, and it never runs out. Programs have used it for decades to generate zero-filled data.
