@copenhenken Welcome to İstanbul Henk! Ferries are simply the best travel mode in İstanbul but even better when combined with bicycles! I hope you have a good time there.

It's hard to believe that top universities in the EU can't be bothered to update their course catalogues. Like yes please tell me more about that one course you held in 2009 it looks super interesting!

@nicole_steller @PhDVoice @PhDForum Having a weekly and daily to-do list, drinking coffee before I arrive at the office to be awake, having lunch as late as possible to not fall asleep in the middle of the day!

@vbluhme @AmericanFietser Wow! I knew that cycling was big also back then, but for some reason did not expect dedicated infrastructure. Thanks a lot!

@gg_basaran @AmericanFietser According to my rigorous research (i.e. looking up old photos online) parts of Vesterbrogade, Østerbrogade and Søgaderne got bike lanes between 1890 and 1900. They were bidirectional, on one side of the road. More pics:

@AmericanFietser That's mainly an aesthetic preference – raised grey bike lanes have served us well for many years, and distinguishing bike lanes from car lanes is intuitive for all road users. Driving in the bike lane would be as strange as driving on the pavement. Here's Copenhagen in the 1910s

@stinelinnemann @OzcanApoet which is not easy when 1) no one is paying for it 2) no one has the dedication to invest in proper PT infrastructure. I suggest that we find ways to make it less necessary for people to travel instead but I don't know how to do so yet! Will hopefully find out soon :)

@stinelinnemann @OzcanApoet That's correct, but still the low percentage shows that this measure only works for people who already have access to public transport, while the rest is forced to keep driving unless they get new lines (cont'd)
