Villa fans need to drop this attitude. We need two top players in every position. Digne and Maatsen pushing each other is very healthy. Keep qualifying for Europe and there's more than enough minutes to go around.

Why play Tammy Abraham and then never cross the ball into the box? Can an xG wizard explain this? Jadon Sancho remains a fine footballer, but he is also a shadow of the player he was. The tape is running at 60% for him, and I don't think that will increase speed.

If a team doesn’t do a huddle celebration when they score against Chelsea this season it will be a massively wasted opportunity.

Everton and Forest's legal teams must be rubbing their hands in glee. So many loopholes in the treatment they received vs Chelsea's preferential deal. And that's before the rest of the league pile in to call foul on flagrant abuse of the rules to gain a sustained advantage.

The temptation at Villa to ignore the rules must be overwhelming. The model of asking for forgiveness rather than permission pays serious dividends. See also the blue side of Manchester.

What a huge week ahead at Villa Park. Back to back wins and all will be rosy in the garden once more. Failure on either front and the gloom will descend. Are all clubs regularly facing monumental sliding door moments every few weeks or is it a Villa thing?

People will point to failed recruitment but for me this is a symptom of two factors. 1) we've had a 'win now' mentality trusting old players, which on the whole has served us well 2) PSR encourages the sale of academy players, so now we have no youngsters coming through
