The big positive about a player like Gordon is although offensive form can fluctuate, the off-ball effort (on defense and offense) will always be there.

@ghftono I believe that there will be a 4 team race for the league next season. Liverpool has been underperforming sooo much with Sloth. If Iraola can get the most out of that team, they would probably get it. But, anything can happen. It might be an unpredictable season in England

Julian has got himself to blame for the situation he's in today. After winning literally everything, you decide to become the face of a project that doesn't win titles. And on top of that, you agreed to a €500M release clause. Wow, just baffling.

They bought Gordon for €70 million on a 5-year contract and gave him a salary of €11 million per year.
If you divide €70 million by 5, you get €14 million. Add his salary, and Gordon’s annual cost comes to around €25–26 million.
To replace Gordon, Newcastle will probably trigger the release clause of Abde Ezzalzouli (€60 million). Barcelona owns 20% of any future sale, so Barça would receive €12 million.
Then Real Betis, to replace Ezzalzouli, would likely trigger the release clause of Jean Virgile. His clause was €30 million but dropped to €12 million after his team got relegated. Barcelona owns 40% of the player’s rights, so Barça would receive about €5 million.
With one simple chain reaction — the butterfly effect — Barcelona would end up recovering a large portion (€17 million) of Gordon’s annual cost. 😄

A lot of players kiss their badges, but I swear, I don’t think there’s a player that’s loved a club the way Messi loves Barca.
I always say that the only reason Messi didn’t retire after 2022 was cause he wasn’t in Barca. This whole thing of him thinking he’s not fit enough to play for Argentina, if he was in Barca, he would have retired after that World Cup.
Every Messi fan should just know that the day Messi’s move to Barca finally happens, the end would be in front of us.

@ghftono No, he would've perform better at City than he did at Atletico last season. And he wasn't really a backup to Haaland, Pep used him in completely different positions most of the time. But ultimately, if he had stayed, his demand from top clubs would have gone up for sure.

Barcelona going for Anthony Gordon feels like a gamble move. He’s a good player, but he hasn’t been consistent enough to be the kind of winger that takes. He could help in La Liga and the domestic cups, but if Barcelona are serious about winning the Champions League again, they need players with more experience and a stronger track record at that level. After 10 years without a Champions League title, Gordon doesn’t feel like the signing that changes that.
