Around 400 BC, Persian engineers built structures that could maintain sub-zero temperatures in the middle of a desert summer. No electricity. No refrigeration. No modern technology of any kind. Just literally physics, geometry, and an extraordinarily sophisticated understanding of how heat moves.
The yakhchāl, which translates literally from Persian as ice pit, was an ancient refrigeration structure that allowed the Persian court and eventually broader Persian society to have access to cold food, cold drinks and ice year-round in one of the hottest climates on earth. The above-ground structure was a large domed building, typically built from a heat-resistant mud brick mortar called sarooj made from sand, clay, egg whites, goat hair and ash, thick enough to provide substantial insulation against the desert heat outside.
Ice and snow were brought down from the Alborz mountain peaks to the north by runners and pack animals and stored in the yakhchāl through the summer. The ice came from a mountain range via a supply chain that the Persian court had been maintaining for centuries. Today we take for granted the easy ice bag from the gas station, just imagine how rare and expensive these frozen treats were in Ancient Persia.
The oldest documented yakhchāl structures date to approximately 400 BC. Some are still standing in Iran today. The largest known examples could store up to 5,000 cubic metres of ice. Sometimes we need to give our Ancient Ancestors a bit more credit. This feat of engineering is incredible.

Trotsky, Kamenev, and Zinoviev, were of Jew/ish origin. Trotsky, in addition was commissar of defense and organized and commanded the Red Army during the “civil war” (the kosher mafia caused it), that followed the October Revolution in 1917.
Kamenev and Zinoviev became members of the triumvirate [along with Stalin] that ruled the Soviet Union immediately after Lenin's death in 1924. Other prominent Jews in the early Soviet government included Yakov Sverdlov, president of the Communist party central committee, Maxim Litvinov, commissar for foreign affairs, and Karl Radek, who served as press commissar. In subsequent years, Je/ws continued to play major roles throughout the Soviet state.
Je/ws also took leadership roles, down into the early 1950s, in the Communist parties of Germany, Hungary, Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Rumania.

Think about that. We spend endless hours agonizing over marketing, tweaking brand colors, and putting our logos on every square inch of what we build. But the ultimate flex isn't a flashy logo. The ultimate flex is building something so undeniably brilliant that its mere existence is the brand.

This is a good move—it buys us time. It’s essential that we use it wisely. Acknowledge that under current conditions, there are no military solutions and a true settlement is unlikely. Follow the Reagan-in-’84 model: pull our forces out of the region, let our Gulf allies negotiate to reopen the SOH, and refocus on the issues at home and winning the next election, like Reagan did. This is the opposite of what Israel wants us to do. To prevent Israel from pulling us deeper into this war, we must impose real restraint by limiting military aid to Israel. The escalation game is a losing hand. Dump it and walk away.
