Sam is accurate. It was pretty much a garbage season for City, still won two trophies and second in the league. They didn’t win from losing positions, didn’t do much against the teams around them and slipped against lesser sides. To win anything this year was miraculous.

Ultimately City ran out of steam, which it looked like might be the case given the fairly flat performance at Wembley on Saturday. Too many games where they dropped easy points but still had hope of winning the title due to Arsenal's own failings. Two cups and a PL campaign that improved adds up to a very good season for such a new team that started almost as a blank canvas. Guardiola leaves them in a good place, though there is a little work to do in the market to replace outgoing stars.
