@durable_tenten I think this highlights a difference in culture. In Japanese, it's normal to repeat the exact word someone used, like 「そう？」->「そう。」. In English, "Is that so?" -> "That is so" would sound very stiff. For just "hi" and "hello" though, you really don't have to worry!
