Four years ago, these numbers felt bold.
In 2021, we processed 35 million transactions worth ₦1.2 trillion. By May 2022, we had already matched that value: ₦1.2 trillion across 25 million transactions. It was a signal. But at the time, we didn’t know just how big the story would become.
Fast forward to today: In just 4 years, from 2021 to 2025, the value processed by Paga has grown 17x!
Today, Paga Engine is the invisible force behind some of the fastest-scaling businesses in Africa — powering payments orchestration, bill payment aggregation, and Banking-as-a-Service with the reliability and scale the market demands.
What started as millions of transactions became trillions in value. What began as a consumer payments company evolved into critical economic infrastructure. Paga Engine is the best in the payments infrastructure business...none of this happens without trust.
Deep thanks to our customers and partners who continue to build on our rails, and to the Paga team that keeps choosing the hard, meaningful work over the easy, flashy path.
We’re still early. And the most important chapters are ahead. Build with us → pagaengine.com

I'm building an extension to elegantly save & restore & organise browser tabs, pinned tabs & tab groups. Everything is a 'space', so figured Browser Spaces is a solid name.
Is it just me or did i get super lucky getting BrowserSpaces.com as a domain?

@solassefa You're assuming they have in-house product teams. Most of these apps are extensions of their core banking tech.

@oviosu Maybe they've taken a page out of Ethiopia's book. Move fast and bulldoze your planned changes through before anyone has the option to complain.

@HenokPrecise @SamRosmarin Not sure I totally agree here. For QR codes to work you need a smartphone and that immediately puts it out of reach of millions. I think the use of USSD is by far the superior choice here, just look at how Push USSD has been so effective by Telebirr.

In my view, a QR code-based payment system is exactly what #Ethiopia needs. It’s affordable, scalable, and reaches millions of unbanked people with just a mobile phone. No complex infrastructure is required. This leapfrogs traditional banking and cashless systems used elsewhere. Small businesses can go digital quickly, boosting growth and integrating into the formal economy. QR codes also make transactions secure and traceable. This is Ethiopia’s chance to lead with a cutting-edge approach to financial inclusion.

👋🏾 Hi! A few professional updates:
I've joined @tryramp to lead the product partnerships team
I'll be spending more time with early-stage companies as an Executive in Residence at @collab_capital
I plan to continue writing @batchprocessing as much as I can—new post this week
English

@__JasonMarshall I hear you. I tend to trust these candidates less as well because they've not demonstrated the capacity to commit to a company's mission. They're just as likely to stay just a year with you.

Do you remember when you joined X? I do! #MyXAnniversary I do. My first tweet was an SMS message at a conference 😱 I remember thinking how s cool to see everyone's tweets appearing on a screen at the front of the stage.

@oviosu I would have said Ethiopia too....although recently green is the new concrete here. Buildings being torn down for green spaces is a change
