We present rapid projection imaging under variable viewing angles. We apply this method in light-sheet and spinning disk microscopy to visualize 3D samples in real time. We further demonstrate that 3D information can be gathered from a set of projections. nature.com/articles/s4159…

ChR2 cell spheroids were manufactured, cryopreserved, thawed and successfully deployed for cardiac pacing; integration was faster than it takes to genetically modify the cardiac cells.

@Maurice_Y_Lee Alternative implementations are available! At @UniofExeter we replace the reflector with a smaller transmissive lens to study the feeding habits of sea worm larvae (different food stock in each well). Credit: @MarInvMet and BSc student Natalie Wood.

Most imaging objectives try to minimise chromatic aberration. In this paper we exploit it to provide wavelength-dependent refocusing of brightfield images. DOI: 10.7554/eLife.56426

It was fun working on this review with Matt @mwkaylab, covering the opportunities #optogenetics has brought to the #heart since 2010, when first used by @huiskenlab, P. Sasse, T. Bruegmann, O. Abilez, D. Pijnappels and several other labs including mine.
