@v8oholic The brewery is just down the road from where I stayed on the B500 the other week, I did sample a few.

I don’t know this beer in the campsite restaurant but it’s sliding down nicely. It was raining this morning (although nice now) so I decided to just chill here. It’s rough, but sometimes it’s the only way 😀

@SawyerMerritt Add tax to tyres. The most sensible option I've heard to date. Miles driven based tax and if you're vehicle is heavier, they wear out quicker.

U.S. House lawmakers have proposed bipartisan legislation that ‌would require electric vehicles to pay a $130 fee to pay for road repairs annually and $35 for some plug-in hybrid models. The House is working on a five-year highway reauthorization bill expected to ‌cost more than $500 billion ahead of the current law expiration on Sept 30, 2026. Most revenue for federally funded road repairs is collected through diesel and gasoline taxes, which EVs do not pay. I think $130 is fair since over time there will be fewer gas vehicles on the road generating tax revenue, They'll need to make up the difference somewhere so they can keep repairing roads, etc. Full bill text in thread below:

Closing in on 250,000 miles… 💪, in 4.5 years, with no servicing, barely any maintenance, original brakes, and every 10,000 miles costs me under £150 in charging. #miles

@ginge650 @YTJustGetATesla I should try asking Porsche one of these days but the German premium brands tend to be difficult to get press cars from in my experience. At least for me anyway. Maybe they've heard about my wife.

A very large majority of Tesla’s do not drive themselves. There’s no evidence that there is market demand for FSD and yet Elon worshippers insist nobody wants to buy a car that doesn’t drive itself.

The @Porsche Taycan is an amazing car, but “it doesn’t drive itself”.

@GrahamCompton Funny I had one today and I have eaten my fair share. I used to enjoy it but honestly it is so bad now. All sauce, nearly every burger is swimming in it.....just a gloopy chew these days.

The UK spends around £23 billion per year on takeaway / deliveries. That works out at around £418/adult/year - around £35/month. If that was invested at 8% for 20 years, you'd have over £20k. The UK has a convenience addiction.

On Tuesday Cooper had been happily playing in the garden sprinkler. Today we’ve said goodbye. Didn’t eat his food yesterday, so trip to vets and CT scan found a mass in his spleen. During surgery discovered he was riddled with nodules. All very sudden. Devastated.

@GrahamCompton @giveashitnature Almost 100% of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) network is electrified, meaning diesel engines are primarily used for shunting freight wagons inyards, construction work, or by private railways on non-electrified branch lines. 📷Wikipedia +2

Switzerland is turning the unused space between train tracks into solar power plants. A startup called Sun-Ways is piloting removable solar panels that roll out like a carpet between the rails. No new land needed, easy to maintain, and they feed clean energy straight into the grid. If the US scaled something similar across its massive rail network, it could generate enough clean, homegrown electricity to power millions of homes. This is the kind of smart, low-impact idea that gets more clean energy online without paving over more fields or wild spaces. Innovations like this show we can produce the power we need while leaving more room for wildlife and nature. Pretty cool engineering with a big upside if you ask me.

Had a snooze, used the loo, had a great breakfast and am now ready for the next 300 miles. Also it’s cheaper than the Euro Tunnel. Not sure why you wouldn’t use the ferry to Calais. I much prefer it.
