this game helped me experience something I haven't in a long time, community. streamers supporting each other, playing together, raiding each other, hosting community games. so many people going into twitch chats saying "I don't get the hate this game is fun" and finding new people to play with. discords being formed for ranked grinders to find stacks. groups of friends running it down in 5v5. felt like something special. game isn't perfect but for those of us who genuinely enjoy Highguard, this sucks💔

The best fps to release in years dead in weeks cause of people who didn’t even play the game. Steam needs to add 1 hour minimum playtime requirement for reviews

When did hating on every game become such a common and prominent personality trait?
Back when I was a kid everyone would get excited for everything. A new game always meant new fun.
Now people pray on every game’s downfall and rush to find everything wrong with it.

Feel so bad for this team. Review bombed by over 14,000 reviews with less than 15 min play time within 24 hours of release. To be clear 1 game is 8-35 minutes. Outside of FPS/Optimization issues, the hate it got was unreal.

Odd seeing complaints on #Highguard feeling empty or not seeing enemies. Are folk playing it properly? Matches have a flow:
Reinforce base
Get loot/resources
Get Shield Breaker on spawn
Use it to break shield
Plant dombs
Last 3 parts players congregate, hence more action. #PS5

Gotta give props to the Highguard team. The lack of marketing was marketing in of itself and seems it worked! Now that it's launch day they're releasing a LOT of dev interviews and info. Many large streamers are promoting it today too. It being F2P also helps to bring in curious gamers too. Wonder if in a month it'll still hold these types of numbers or die off quickly.

This is an exceptionally well-crafted shooter that combines familiar Apex-style gameplay with a totally fresh high-stakes objective with the dramatic highs and lows of a competitive shooter

Highguard cooked with its art direction and sense of scale. Gorgeous. Evident even from the Tutorial.
Can see reviews are mixed, but on PS5 Pro it's been solid so far. Enjoying it more than I expected. Feels pretty fresh, huge and liberating.
