I told you the terms. If you want to bill us for your small increase in energy costs... which I think across the entire EU economy is something like 50 billion USD... which shouldn't be a big deal but apparently is causing you to be upset. Fine. The US will pay you 50 billion. And in return, you're going to pay us the price of not having your cities put under atomic hostage by the Mullahs in Iran. If you won't pay my price then I won't pay yours. Simple as that. As to the cost of you protecting your own shipping... price of doing business, cousin. World is a dangerous place. You take the security of your ships for granted because that is provided to you all the time for free. Well... that's fine but that was always a gift. A gift every day. If you want to earn the free passage of your ships, then you have to protect them. If you don't like that, I don't know what to tell you. If the US pulls and abandons the whole region your ships would be subject to piratical seizure by literally half the countries in that region. They are not because we blow them up when they try those things. We do it. The United States. We don't have to. We could let the Houthis etc go crazy and what would you do about it? Probably what you did in hundreds of years ago. You'd bribe them and pay them off and beg them to not hurt your ships. That's what the european powers did with the barbary pirates until the United States in about 1814 ended that forever. We were a weak tiny country from across the sea and we apparently even then had more balls than France, England, Spain... who just paid the pirates. So anyway... be mad or whatever. We don't care. We have no ill will to you and I wish your people well. But if you want the US to do something then you have to give us a reason to do it. If all you've got is pages of upsetty spaghetti then we'll just send that to voice mail and go on with our lives.

No one is asking the EU to pay for rebuilding in the mid east. They were rather asked to guard THEIR oil shipments instead of expecting FREE protection from the US. They said no... so the oil is disrupted... if they had sent ships oil would go through hormuz right now. But they said no. So whatever... US doesn't get oil from their anyway. Euros pay either by protecting their boats or through higher prices when they don't. US in either case doesn't really care. As to billing the US for it, sure. We'll pay you whatever you want. But we're deducting what you owe us for saving you from a nuclear iran if you do that. Iran proved they had missiles that could hit Berlin, Paris, and London. So if we're billing each other, you can pay that and we'll pay for your higher energy costs which are mostly the result of the euros not sending ships and minesweepers.

I don't see why we have to pay for that? This should be 100% euro funded. I don't even care about the money. I am annoyed that we're paying it. Someone might say "oh its only 100 million of the 500 million"... I don't care if it is 1 dollar. I don't understand why this is our burden at all.
