At this point if you're in the US military you have a moral obligation to start refusing orders. Desert. Become a conscientious objector. Ideally, get everyone together and launch a full-scale military coup. We're in "Mad King" territory. Someone's gotta do what needs to be done.

Striking civilian structures, including unfinished bridges, will not compel Iranians to surrender. It only conveys the defeat and moral collapse of an enemy in disarray. Every bridge and building will be built back stronger. What will never recover: damage to America's standing.

@pati_marins64 You know what the Iranians calling for the bombing of their homeland have in common? They're all well-heeled, educated and with the means to live elsewhere. The Iranian working class, the silent millions, support their government in the face of US and Israeli criminality.

Even in wars, excessive violence often has the opposite effect. In a post of mine not long ago, I warned that the sheer scale of the violence in the assassinations and attacks would eventually end up uniting the country. This is a natural movement in divided societies that suffer an external attack of a level of violence they are not accustomed to. At that moment, they start to believe that the violence coming from outside is greater than the internal one, and they unite despite their political differences. The US isn’t just losing the war, their bases, and the Gulf countries’ faith in American security. They also lost the trust of the Iranian opposition. (Video HissainSharfiei)

ICE guards are betting on which detainee will kill themselves next. The AP just exposed the savage conditions of a detention camp in El Paso. The Associated Press got inside Camp East Montana. What they found should be on the front page of every newspaper in this country until it closes. About 3,000 people packed in per day. Loud, unsanitary quarters crawling with insects. Food so scarce that detainees steal from each other just to eat. Disease spreading through filthy rooms, showers, and restrooms that go uncleaned. People losing weight. People unable to see a doctor. People losing their minds. Staff made nearly one 911 call per day in the camp's first five months. One call captures a man sobbing after being assaulted by another detainee. Another has a doctor describing a man banging his head against a wall while expressing suicidal thoughts. A nurse calls about a pregnant woman in severe pain with coronavirus. Detainees suffering seizures, some resulting in serious head trauma. Ages ranged from a 19-year-old who fell from a bunk to a 79-year-old who couldn't breathe. And then there's the detail that should haunt this administration for the rest of its existence. Owen Ramsingh, a former property manager from Columbia, Missouri, who spent weeks in the camp before being deported to the Netherlands, told the AP he overheard a security guard talking about a betting pool among the staff. They were wagering on which detainee would be next to die by suicide. The guard said he had put $500 in. The total pot rode on the outcome. Ramsingh said the talk was particularly devastating because he had contemplated suicide himself. Guards are gambling on the deaths of people in their custody. People who are hungry. People who are sick. People who are begging for help through 911 calls that come in every single day. And the staff turned it into a game. This is not some rogue facility. This is the system working exactly as this administration designed it. Overcrowded by policy. Underfed by neglect. Understaffed by choice. They built a place where human beings deteriorate and then the people paid to watch over them place bets on who breaks first. The AP has the data. The recordings. The interviews. The court filings. This is documented. This is real. This is happening right now in El Paso, Texas, in the United States of America. Share this. Do not let them bury it under another news cycle.

It explains why the Soviet Union failed but does so by digging down into the internal workings of society. Human social relations is a law-governed system.

It's not that socialism is inevitable. But it is the case that if humanity is to continue to progress, socialism is necessary.

@SNL_Atlanta @pati_marins64 @barnes_law If the people are as smart as I think they are, they will gravitate toward Marxism and Trotskyism as the crisis of US imperialism becomes more acute, just as they did in October 1917.

I think “the masses” are a lot better at smelling bullshit than you give them credit for, and they’re not going to allow a bunch of Marxist activists to tell them what to do and how to think. Think about the preposterous claims and narratives that have been forced on all of us over the last decade (I know it’s been going on for much longer than that, but I want to focus on this decade). Crazy stuff that made no sense and contradicted what all of us could see for ourselves. It seems to me that, in general, the people who were affluent and college-educated were more likely than middle-class and working-class people to accept as truth all the nonsense told to them by their “respected” sources. People are smarter than you think.
