@Lukenapwanga @TraceyMachona An "illiterate" (unable to read or write) is a form of being "uneducated", so using the term "uneducated illiterate" is redundant at best. .

@glo72538 @moregish @MusaaRonalds It is! I’m with you. Do you know the story of Zimbabwe? Sometimes it’s easy to judge when we don’t know what people have gone through.

Let me educate you not with anger, but with truth. You assume South Africans lack exposure. You assume we believe other African countries are poor and undeveloped. That is not the case. We know the reality. We know Nigeria has oil. We know Ghana has gold. We know Kenya has tech. We know Botswana has diamonds. We know Zambia has copper. We know Zimbabwe has platinum and lithium. We know the DRC sits on $24 trillion in minerals. We know Africa is rich. But here is what you do not understand, wealth beneath the ground does not translate to prosperity above it. You can have all the minerals in the world but if your leaders steal, your constitutions hostile towards humans rights, if your institutions are corrupt, if your people are divided by tribe, if your healthcare collapses, if your schools crumble, if your youth flee then you are poor. Not in resources. In governance. In accountability. In dignity. We do not look down on Africa. We look at the mirror Africa refuses to face. We see our own flaws corruption, unemployment, crime and we fight them. We protest. We vote. We demand better. That is what makes us different. We do not run. We stay. We build. We hold our leaders accountable, even when it hurts. You say we lack exposure. But we see you. We see your leaders flying overseas to get treated, some in our country to get medical treatment, while your children starve. We see your ports exporting raw minerals while your people have no jobs. We are not blind. We are not ignorant. We are honest. The difference between South Africa and many other African countries is not wealth. It is the willingness to confront failure. We own ours. You run from yours. That is not a lack of exposure. That is a lack of accountability. And until you fix that, no mineral, no resource, no tweet will save you. Go home. Fix your house. Then talk to us about exposure.
James@MrJamesKe

A lack of exposure has led many South Africans to assume that other African countries are poor and undeveloped. The reality on the ground often tells a very different story.

Dear @nickmangwana, I hope you have seen the pictures that have gone viral on social media showing Zimbabweans sleeping outside the Zimbabwean Consulate in Cape Town in winter temperatures running away from xenophobic harassment, hate and violence. Surely, as a government, you can do something to assist your own people in such circumstances. Imagine, Nick, if it were your wife and children sleeping outside in the Southern African winter, exposed to temperatures close to zero degrees. No reasonable person would find that acceptable. The government has the resources and the responsibility to intervene. At the very least, these Zimbabweans should not be left to sleep on the pavement in the cold. Why do we have to be so cruel to our own people? What is the purpose of having a government if it cannot step in when its citizens are in obvious distress? These are the same Zimbabweans who, in better times, send remittances back home that sustain families and contribute significantly to the country’s economy. I hope you will not simply look at these images and move on. I hope you will bring this matter to the attention of your principals and urge them to act. Sometimes I wonder whether President Emmerson Mnangagwa is fully aware of situations such as this, because I struggle to believe that any sane and compassionate leader could see fellow citizens enduring these conditions and simply carry on as if nothing is wrong. These people are not mere statistics. They are Zimbabweans. They deserve dignity, compassion, and assistance from the government that claims to represent them.

@moregish @MusaaRonalds I think most of us acknowledge that our governments have failed us. Your questions are akin to challenging why a child went to protection services rather than standing up to their abusive parent. In most of these countries March and March would be squashed within a day by gov.

@NcumisaMbotyi @Uniteduncle @advocatemahere @ZdvNap Your house analogy is spot on. If som1 breaks into your home, refuses to leave, disrespects you, breaks more laws inside, then claims “this is my house too”… you’d call the police. You wldn’t be “cruel” or “lazy” for defending your property. You’d be an owner.

About 60 immigration officers are processing thousands of Malawian nationals in Sherwood, Durban. Some are taken to court and deported while others are repatriated. Officials say they are all undocumented. At least 12 babies have been delivered at the site so far. #sabcnews

Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi - who is now heading the national organised crime task team - has confirmed that he is en route to a Pretoria police station to also meet IDAC. This comes after Crime Intelligence head Lt-Gen Dumisani Khumalo was apparently requested by IDAC investigators to “carry an overnight bag” and meet them there by 3pm. Khumalo and the team yesterday received intelligence suggesting that IDAC was fighting back over rumours of the impending arrest of its head Adv Andrea Johnson. The information indicated that Khumalo and Mkhwanazi would be targeted to disable them from pursuing any investigations to that end. Although Mkhwanazi has not been requested to meet the investigators yet, he believes the move with Khumalo gives credence to the tip-off. @pule_jones will bring you the details on @eNCA #DStv403.
