The two biggest patient-zero vectors of the AAA cancer that is killing the industry: 1) Quality Assurance. 2) Community Mgrs. They don't have the power to make decisions, but they are easy jobs to get and attract social justice/communists in huge numbers who start to complain, be "activists" and push for the type of DEI rot we see in AAA today. They make HR's life hell and push managers and game teams into corners by sheer number. Community Mgrs also set the tone and policy of the company with their huge reach and posts. And guess what they push?

What the AI bros don't know is that game devs make shit like this before breakfast Prototypes, vertical slices, tech demos take only days or hours The endless stream of incremental changes comes after that and AI today won't cut it and will keep fucking up the entire codebase

1200 million tokens, $863.35 and a few prompts got me this piece of art Game devs are done for real 😂 @mattshumer_ your gauntlet prompt is the real game dev killer

Bethesda union members are protesting after being laid off and it's hilarious how out of touch they are >"we make great games!" >"we make games players love!" >"we make games that define generations!" They're even holding signs that say "PLAYERS DESERVE BETTER" and it's like, where was that energy the entire time that corrupt AAA has been taking advantage of gamers by putting out buggy, overpriced, modern audience slop? They were radio silent, but now that they got laid off they're pretending to care about the players😂

All the Junipers and Liliths at Bethesda are getting laid off because no one has the passion to do LSD and mushrooms to write Elder Scrolls lore anymore.

It's like most people can read each other's minds, but somehow you never learned how. So instead of knowing what other people are feeling and thinking just by being around them, you're clueless. You can tell if they're laughing or crying, of course, but anything more subtle requires a question, or at least more information. They exchange information through secret methods like pauses, glances, and body language that you cannot decode. Other people look at you as weird because you need this accommodation that most people do not. You're not one of them, because if you were, you wouldn't need it.

Autistic people — if you had to describe what autism actually feels like on the inside to someone who’s never experienced it… what analogy or explanation would you use? (I’m genuinely trying to understand)

💯 Software is not art. Make it simple and consistent.
joshpuckett@joshpuckett

@EmmettMaher 90% of software *should* look and work the same. millions of hours have been wasted by software makers and users trying to create, and figure out how to use, special snowflakes.

@Grummz In every AAA studio I ever worked at, QA was one of the most valuable departments, and not a lot of politics came from that vector - so I think you are wrong there. You are right about Community Managers. That was a major entry point for low-octane activists.

@RodneySmit66841 @_Hero_Hei_ The person that hired the guy with a communist neck tattoo should be fired along with everyone else that person hired. if you have a neck tattoo, you are trash. Even good people with neck tattoos recognize this. Communist neck tattoo… wow. You don’t hate them enough.

@_Hero_Hei_ I think it's great they were laid off. Communist/LGBT branding, even a communist neck tatoo on one of these losers only reinforces the fact these people are subhuman weapons of destruction. Evil cannot create, it can only destroy.

@RodneySmit66841 @_Hero_Hei_ Okay, listen, I'm not a fan of communism either but maybe when you're at the point of calling someone a "subhuman weapon of mass destruction" over a neck tattoo, you need to recalibrate a bit.

For those reading my feed, the AI stuff can be exciting but it is also overhyped. AI is now where near capable of generating a *viable* game that people would want to play. Most games made, by humans, are not viable and are pretty terrible and that is, the training data.

Every day I wake up and talk to people who have never seen AI at it's best. They don't understand what is coming, that we are at the knee of the Singularity. They still think AI's hallucinate, create crappy multi-fingered art, and are worthless. They don't code, never tried an AI coding agent. When you work with current coding tools, you start to see AI differently. Esp if you have a programming background. If the last time you tried an AI coding tool was 8 months ago, you are already 2-3 step changes behind in what it's capable of now. You probably think it's still broken can't be used to make anything of substance. And you'd be wrong. The vast majority of people are even more wrong, because they tried AI a few times 3 years ago and it was crap. They can't see the steepness of the curve. And what has completely displaced coding is coming for so many areas. But it's not a replacement for humans, it means that you have to move your mission to one step above, to a designer, a creator, a director. Great things are possible.

Remember how I said Dave Plummer might grift again? The TMOG is closed-source and *will* have a Pro version - it's baked in the license. Wonder why? The app is fully vibecoded (not even by Claude) and Plummer is NOT LIABLE for anything despite the paid nature of software.

@PatrikSebaGames @tommoore515 @jettelly It's misleading because it's just a single game jam. A big game jam with a lot of participants, but still, just one game jam At the same time Godot fans are acting as obnoxious as ever and parading those graphs around as if they signify the death of Unity. They don't
