Lately I had an argument with a non-technical vibe-coder about whether his app was ready for production. We can't know for sure, but my point was: it "works" on his side, and at the same time it's not ready — because of unknown unknowns. We still haven't found the common ground. That's why I prepared an assessment for non-technical app builders. It helps to avoid imposter syndrome and to check how ready your app really is for scalability. For vibe-coders: please use it and share how it works for you. For engineers: feel free to send PRs if you have important questions that should be assessed too — and please don't nitpick: focus on what's critical or dangerous, not on things that don't really matter.

If you had two software engineering offers: > One pays you $500k/year salary, but covers zero LLM tokens. > One pays you $400k/year salary, but gives you $500/day free LLM tokens. Which one are you taking?

Building a SaaS is easy now. Finding one person who actually needs it is still the hardest thing in the world.

Could you imagine it's 2026 and I still have a legitimate case of manually creating a certificate using letsencrypt. Moreover, I faced rate limits!

I've reached a point in my engineering career where I just dont care anymore I used to want to solve complex problems, design new systems, learn new architecture etc. But something clicked in my brain last year and I just don't give a fuck like zero drive to keep doing this

AI is quietly deprecating GitHub. Agents do not need branches, PRs, or CI/CD rituals. They want to ship code straight to the cloud. The rsync renaissance is here. High availability. Zero bloat. Faster loops.

Ghostty just surpassed Terraform in stars (my previous most-starred project I started). It took Terraform 12 years to reach 48K. Ghostty did it in 1 year. It's bigger than Terraform in active usage, too. I take it personally when people doubt I can outdo my past. I can take credit for starting both, but not for ongoing development (for the successes and failures). Neither project is a solo endeavor. I'm still extremely actively involved with Ghostty, but there's also a team of a dozen maintainers. Terraform I stepped back and stopped working on it directly like 6 or more years ago. I consider stars a vanity metric and I don't care about it at all except in this narrow case. I'm a super competitive person (in general), but particularly/especially against my past self. There's no one I like "winning" more against than my past. So, this is my one exception for caring about stars.
