Highlight of last night's garden moth trap, Dotted Chestnut (3rd recorded here) @glosmoths

Just hit a new entomological low. Unwittingly sucked up a dead persons ashes with my suction sampler.

Nice little haul on my first moth trapping session of 2018. Early Grey, Hebrew Character, and Common Quaker. Also Double striped pug (not shown) new for garden. Cirencester town.

First Herald moth for me in the trap this year.

Yay x infinity! Purple Emperor larvae have started to feed on leaf buds, after a high winter survival rate (the lowest winter predation rate I've recorded, only 25%). 2018 could be a good year for this butterfly... @ukbutterflies

@Ben909 Pretty sure it’s not Robins pincushion as the host is always field rose or dog rose. That doesn’t appear to be either.

A second generation of Long tailed blue butterflies is being spotted along the south coast. If you see a blue butterfly it may be a LTB!!
