Irrespective of big time schools backing off … the fact that @CowboyFB landed stud QB Mestemaker is critically importmant. Pokes immediately have real reason for optimism & a confidence that’s been MIA, for good reasons. Wild how that Cowboy Nation gets to do a 180!

@gif_tannen Having meaningful games is the key. That has rarely happened post-Sutton. Hopefully we are on the road to that again. It’s hard to get a program to that level and keep it there. OSU reallly just has 2 windows of that elite level. Iba and Sutton eras.

I think about the 48–46 game a lot. Not just because of the way it ended — Bug hitting the game-winner, Kelvin losing his mind and sprinting onto the court to protest, or the fact that hoops meant so much back then that students lined up eight hours before a Big Monday tip just to pack the lower level of GIA. It’s because we had no clue that the next two years were going to be moments like that on repeat and the following 20 would be almost void of them.

Melvin Sanders played 3 seasons for @OSUMBB between 2000-03 starting all 94 games he played in a Cowboy uniform. He was a tough defender, a three point threat, and was a high flyer who high jumped 7'2 in high school #GoPokes

@ClayCooper81 @osuzack I mentioned in another post but folks confuse the revenue share / public NIL vs private NIL. Every P4 football school is doling out $16M-$18M to players via rev share / public NIL. That money doesn’t really even get you a seat at the table.

@osuzack Boosters wanted to play the NIL portal game but $16 mil gets you a Temu team of “also rans” compared to what the good teams are spending.

We had so so so much talent brought in this offseason. $16M roster. How are we so bad? Culture issue? Locker room drama? Does anyone have a rational explanation?

@cowboyattaboy @osuzack Yes and most folks do not understand every P4 team is doling out that revenue share. It’s not the $16M that matters; it’s the private NIL $ that differentiates programs and OSU is not competitive in that space for football at the moment.

It’s clear John Mateer’s hand/thumb are not right - though he/OU can’t admit it. Then poor execution creates frustration, compounding things … leading bad/atypical decisions. On not best day, #Sooners could’ve won. But @OleMissFB is really good & deserves credit. #SEC.
