Dammit probs, I didn’t want to type out the context that caused me to fire that off that tweet last night, but here goes. 65 and sunny in sunny in OK today, nobody is sitting down at 4 to watch a live stream. Guessing all production costs are on us for this and we are well past the point where a couple of cameras doing a live stream will suffice. If you don’t produce it well, you are running the risk of looking second rate and so you are going to have to spend real money on it … and to what end? We live in a “watch the clips” consumer environment and the hype is going to be delivered by the content team in the hours and days after the spring game. I’d rather see Chad put our resources into that, rather than spending serious dollars producing a glorified scrimmage. Three well produced clips of Meste doing Meste things are worth exponentially more to our brand than a live stream watched by 5k people. And I say this as someone who lives 1500 miles and would absolutely watch it. We all know the financial challenges athletic departments are facing and with baseball/softball happening as well , there needs to be a concentrated effort to get people to Stillwater. If Chad had an operating budget that was flush, I would have a different take. If this was a game that was already being produced for broadcast and we blacked it regionally, I would share Bills frustration. But absent that, this was the play and tomorrow we are going to be sharing clip after clip of the highlights that the content team is churning out and it will produce far more value than what you would get from a livestream.
