9/11 Didn't End in 2001 There are more than 130,000 responders and survivors enrolled in the World Trade Center Health Program today. Many of them are still sick. Many are still fighting for the health care and services they were promised. Many have given up. When you include their families, the coworkers they served with, and the communities around them, hundreds of thousands of Americans are still living with the consequences of 9/11. Yet the voices that represent this community are largely silent about what is happening in New York City 'today'. The lessons of September 11th were not just about mourning the dead. They were about vigilance. They were about safety. They were about making sure something like that never happens again. Someone representing the responder and survivor community needs to remind this country what happened to us and why it still matters. Because “Never Forget” should mean never forgetting the hundreds of thousands of Americans still living with the consequences of September 11th.

This story is horrific. This girl with mental issues was taken from her parents and thrown in a state-run facility with MENA migrant minors. They then gang-raped her. It traumatised her and led to a suicide attempt which left her paraplegic. Today, Spain will euthanise her.

I have some questions for ALL North Carolinians: Who controls the Governor’s office? Who controls the General Assembly? Who controls the budget? Who controls crime? If ANY of your answers include a political party, YOU’RE WRONG. The people do. This government’s job is to work for the people who elect them. When we sit out of primaries or vote (or not vote) for the same people in general elections, it is our fault. What else can we expect? We are to blame. Here’s the reality: In the last 100 years, North Carolina has had just three Republican governors and only two Republican Attorney Generals. And for well over 100 years the General Assembly was controlled by Democrats. Just recently as of 2010 the Republican Party took control. This isn’t just about political parties, but we CAN’T keep electing the same people and party expecting a different outcome. That is the definition of insanity. We need new leadership. Fresh ideas. And real accountability to the people not the political class. I’m tired of the same old, same old. And I know I’m not alone. Your voice is your vote and it matters. If you want change, it’s time to step up, speak out, and choose it. 2026 elections matter, but so do 2027, 2028, and every year after. Keep your head up NC but get to work. YOU deserve better.
