@RobJF24 Also financially difficult to justify if you are low down the rankings mate. It costs a hell of a lot money to play the tour and that, along with the travel, has to be a factor a Mark’s age now. Always come across as a good guy and wish him well.

@GLvale1 Yeah, he's been the ultimate stalwart really, and that's very high praise. Nearly as long on tour as I've been alive. Not sure what his plans will be now, but the option is always there for him to try and make a return, of course.

Remember watching Mark Davis fall off the tour three years ago. Incredible ending to the match and a very emotional time for both gentlemen. Mark's bacon was ultimately saved by a somewhat prominent match-fixing scandal. I can't imagine the same will happen this time around.

@totalsnookered He’s had an incredible career. Surely can’t be easy for him to get motivated to travel to Barnsley and the like the play qualifiers now. Been a professional for 36 years, nothing last forever and he’s still involved in the game.

Have we seen Ken Doherty play his last pro snooker match? The 1997 World Champ bows out of this year's blue riband event after a 10-5 loss to Patrick Whelan in the opening qualifying round. Will 56-year-old Doherty be awarded another invitational tour card; does he want one?
