The term ESG, (Environmental, Social & Governance) is well known in the Business world. Time for SSG: Sports for Social Good to be recognised as an equally important acronym… Congratulations @manoj_naandi & Team @naandi_india I’m proud to be your Chairman.

This #InternationalWomensDay2026 theme, Give To Gain, reminds us that progress is not an individual prospect. In Khedwa, a village in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, a community chose to give. As the Nanhi Kalis were to leave for Amritsar to play at the national-level Toofaan Cup 2026, the village that once didn't allow women to play, came together to buy them sports jerseys with their own names and numbers. A simple gesture that carried a powerful message: we are proud of our girls, and the country should be too. The team played fearless football, knowing an entire village stood behind them. When women are backed by their communities, they move further and faster with greater belief. This Women’s Day, we celebrate not just the girls who fight all odds but the communities that show what happens when you stand behind your daughters. #GiveToGain #WomensDay #WomenEmpowerment #GirlsOnField #GirlsInSports #GrassrootsFootball #CommunityAction #SheIsOnTheRise #India

This is why the #ToofaanCup of project @NanhiKali is a storm that is brewing to create Girl Power across India. The largest girls football tournament of its kind, the Toofaaan Cup is the culmination of selecting one winning Team from 1300 teams. The teams are selected from nearly 100,000 girls playing football through out the year (after school hours) under the supervision of trained women coaches. It is a grass roots movement of girls studying in India’s government schools. Last week when the Toofaan Cup concluded in the city of Amritsar, Punjab, it was a team from Varanasi that won beating one of the teams from Prayagraj. The best team from Jambusar won the third prize beating a debutant team from tribal Araku. So we are spreading a girls football Toofaan. Thank you @gnwLisa for leading this Toofaan for us! Cheers also to all the team members of Project Nanhi Kali which is over 1900 women leaders !!!

Young Sanfida Nongrum scoring on her senior debut for the India women’s national football team in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup. It was also India’s first goal in the tournament in 23 years. But the story behind the goal is just as inspiring. Across the Northeast, in places like Manipur, Mizoram and Meghalaya, football is not just a sport. It’s part of everyday life. Girls grow up playing freely, supported by families and communities. That ecosystem deserves far more recognition. Because sometimes the future of a nation’s sport begins far from the biggest stadiums.

16 teams out of 2,436 all-girls teams across the country, came together in Amritsar for three days of high-energy football at the second season of Toofaan Cup. This national tournament is the coming together of a movement and a year-long commitment to the game. Under the @nanhikali program, these girls train and play league matches in their districts every weekend. Training, competing and growing as athletes long before they step onto this stage. The Cup is the spotlight moment. The real story is playing the sport in their own villages, the girls have created a space where they exist on their own terms. It is grassroots football in its truest form. #GirlsInSports #GirlsOnField #WomenInSports #IndianFootball #GrassrootsFootball #FemaleAthletes #India

We’re still buzzing from last week’s national-level Toofaan Games. 151 girls travelled from across the country to be in Mumbai. What stood out wasn’t just the medals or the finish lines. It was the way these Nanhi Kalis stepped on to the field, competitive and deeply focused on winning but always ready to learn from one another. Cheering the loudest, sharing tips and picking each other up. This is what sport does when young girls are given the space to play, push themselves and belong. And watching them bloom with enthusiasm is what keeps us going. 🏃🏽‍♀️✨ Shoutout to our Sports Director @gnwLisa and the entire team on field that pull this off, year after year.

Somewhere between the first pass and the final whistle, confidence found its voice.📷📷 At the District-level Toofaan Cup in Vizianagram, 71 Nanhi Kalis participated. They didn’t just play a game, they lived a story of growth and grit. With HPCL’s support, 34 girls took the pitch, 14 made it to the final two teams, and one helped her team clinch a decisive 6-goal win. The journey to the finals was filled with joy, shaped by teamwork and trust. @HPCL

Sports don’t just build players—they build changemakers. For young girls, every game is a step toward confidence, courage, and endless possibilities. When she plays, she’s breaking barriers, rewriting rules, and proving that strength has no limits. At Project Nanhi Kali, Toofaan Games and football are leveling the playing field. Through every sprint, every goal, and every challenge, girls are pushing past boundaries and showing them what they’re capable of. This #InternationalDayofSportforDevelopmentandPeace, let’s celebrate the power of sports in shaping fearless futures! #ProjectNanhiKali #WhereGirlsLearnTheyMatter

The 5th edition of Toofaan Games Finals was a showcase of pure talent, grit, and determination! As India’s only grassroots sports movement for girls, initiated by K.C. Mahindra Education Trust and @naandi_india for Project Nanhi Kali, it proved that when girls get the opportunity, they rise to the challenge—and shine. Almost 1 lac girls at Nanhi Kali started their journey at the village level. 1,946 made it through district-level games and 150 finalists gave it their all at the grand finale on Jan 29-30, 2025, at Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad. Palghar led the medal tally with six wins, followed by Varanasi and Chakan with four each. Amritsar, Baghapurana, Jambusar, Moga, Netrang, Prayagraj, and Vizag also secured their place on the podium. This isn’t just about winning medals—it’s about pushing boundaries, building confidence, and proving that when girls are given a chance, they don’t just participate. They own the moment!   They are the unstoppable force, the ‘Toofaan’ reshaping the world—one victory at a time. #ToofaanGames2025 #ProjectNanhiKali #WhereGirlsLearnTheyMatter

In the holy city of Varanasi today I was humbled to see the confluence of the Power of Girls and Football at the Finals of the Inaugural Toofaan Cup. From 860 Teams out of 65000 girls who play Football, Prayagraj Team beat Darjeeling 4-1. Over 5500 girls were cheering with joy and exuberance at what was their first ever experience to witness a match. The video tells you the Kilowatts of Power they generated. Famous writer and Football aficionado John Carlin from Barcelona, Spain was the Chief Guest who gave away the Trophy to the Captain Reshma Nishad. In his speech, John mentioned that he is sure that one day India 🇮🇳 will the Women’s World Cup and that day everyone will remember that the seeds were sown today. Seeds for a National Movement of Women’s Football. Another Guest of Honour was the Pulitzer Prize winner Dele Olojede who gave the Medals to the best and promising first time players of all teams. In his address he praised the tens of thousands of girls who are part of @NanhiKali who are using Football to end the Gender Gap between Boys and Girls. He also saluted them for bringing such Joy to Humanity. Project Nanhikali has sown the seeds of the nationwide Girls Football Movement starting from Grassroots across the length and breadth of India. I bow to the amazing army of women behind this - both at @KCMahindraEduc1 and @naandi_india that jointly manages @NanhiKali Especially, I applaud the hundreds of women School Associates and Game Changers who are the leaders of this Movement. Former India 🇮🇳 National Player @DishaMalhotra_J and the endearing Sports Director @gnwLisa need special mention for their relentless passionate efforts to lead the pedagogy for training first generation learners into coaches!
