@AlexAlmeida2020 during the age of sail, a coastal fortress almost always outgunned a ship because it was a stable platform . i think there's a similar principle today, because concentration of force, dispersion, and resupply is much easier on land (and home turf) than at sea.

Operation Rough Rider last year really did a number on the Navy’s confidence and willingness to get up close and personal with land-based anti-ship. I suspect much of the weird way this campaign has been conducted can be attributed to this.

A US official told CNN that the Navy is not escorting any ships through the strait, but has been communicating to merchant vessels (that have not entered or exited Iranian ports) that it is safe to pass and encouraging them to do so. The official said the US is not enforcing a full blockade of the strait — only a blockade of ships entering and exiting Iranian ports along the entire Iranian coastline. The US also sent destroyers through the Strait of Hormuz last weekend to demonstrate that there is a safe path through the waterway, the official said.

Finally watched the whole thing and wow the new Conner O Malley short sucks. Pipe Rock Theory remains unsurpassed. I liked his use of AI better in Coreys and 103 fever (which does the drake/AI voice gag a lot better).
