Days before I left for the US, I spent a night with a family in Nigeria. Very beautiful family. The wife of the man was a close friend of mine. That night the woman cooked to host me. She told me I was traveling so she needed to go to the market and buy foodstuff to prepare and celebrate my leaving. I was very happy when I arrived that evening to hear the news that they were cooking. When the food came out, I discovered it was yam and palm oil that were served. Sincerely, I was expecting something else because of how she spoke about going to the market to buy foodstuffs to celeberate me. I was expecting fried rice, chicken, or even swallow, and any correct soup. When I saw yam and palm oil I was surprised but didn't show it. As she served the food, I could see how the children and husband were very happy to eat. At that point, I knew this was pure love from them and it was the best they could afford. The woman spoke about how yam had increased in the market because it wasn't their season. I was listening to them and contributing to the gist. We enjoyed the dinner together and spent the rest of the time watching movies. When I left for the US and things got better for me, I didn't forget them. I sent them money regularly to take care of themselves. Contributed to their fees. Just yesterday, I was moved to send them 200k for Easter. Without thinking I wired the sum into the husband's account and asked him to give Madam her share. She called me and told me her husband gave her 150k and kept 50k. I asked why. She said. "Catherine, he said you are my friend na. So I should reap from my friendship." I laughed. The wife told me that they had not been paid by the school where they both worked and they were just praying and thinking about how Easter would be for them. But God showed up. I was happy. Instantly, I knew the leading to send them some money was divinely orchestrated. Sometimes when you have a lead to do something, do it. It may be God using you to bless someone. © Catherine Nduka
