At the end of the day, cases are not gambling. You could argue that it’s similar to gambling in design and I would totally agree with you. But you simply cannot cash out your Steam balance through Steam. You can buy video games, other in-game items, Steam trading cards. None of which are supposed to have real world value according to Steam. Valve has stated it in their policies clearly and we’ve agreed to follow them as Steam users. The closest thing to “cashing out” would be the fact that you can purchase valve hardware like the VR headset or the Steam Deck and sell it on a third-party like Facebook Marketplace or eBay. And even then, that transaction for valve hardware is considered a “standard sale of real goods” NOT “virtual items that have no real cash value”. Any sale of a “virtual item” on a third-party website is unadvised by valve and not operationally controlled by them. Just because someone sells Baseball/Trading cards or Sneakers on a third-party website doesn’t mean the original manufacturer runs a gambling operation. That is my take that nobody asked for 🤣

⚠️🚨STATEMENT REGARDING CHEATING A few days ago, we played a match in the @CCT_CS tournament against the team Khan, and we have strong reasons to believe that this team does not win matches in the spirit of fair play. As you can see in the attached video, rotations are occurring without any information, just like in many other rounds, and also involve locking through walls, etc. This is not the first time suspicions of cheating have appeared on the Tier 2/3 scene. We all surely remember, for example, the team Senza. We decided to wait a few days to see how the situation would develop, but we can no longer remain silent. In the meantime, matches have taken place against teams such as @EYEBALLERS and @SINNERS_Esports, where the same situations occurred as in our game. Therefore, we kindly ask all organisers, especially @CCT_CS, to put an end to this, to actively investigate such cases, and to stop inviting suspicious teams to their tournaments. A loss is a loss, but it must be fair — that’s what esports is about. By ignoring this problem, we are hurting not only the players but also the fans, who should be at the heart of it all. The teams with the must luxury of opportunity. This was NEVER what counterstrike was meant to be about, and this recent change removing the MRQ's is going to devastate the ecosystem in the coming years if it is not reverted. VRS as a system is already built on fragile framework where corruption is possible and tournament prestige is unnecessary. VRS is also completely catered to EU and is very dysfunctional in the other regions of the world (such as the Americas). I plead with the fans, the players, and the smaller organizations to keep MRQs.
