@zydhockey @TalkingPicsTV The bit where Quilt is talking to the police commissioner on the split screen and lights his cigarette down the phone is just sublime. Absolute genius. Likewise the buskers at the end….brilliant stuff

Oh my god ! I’v just watched ‘The Case of Mukkinese Battle- Horn ‘ on @TalkingPicsTV catch up . I haven’t laughed out loud at the telly for I don’t know how long ! Way ahead of its time ! Peter Sellers Spike Milligan and Dick Emery …. I can’t recommend this enough !

@Moor3_D @supertanskiii A couple of workmates died after going to that race meeting from Covid 😔
English

@bsgorrie Great that you’re back home Bruce, I hope things get easier for you and your recovery goes as well as it can
English

@NPortnell Take your time Mate, and don’t give yourself a hard time about it. Sometimes our minds shut everything down to slow motion to give themselves time to recover and adjust to things they don’t want to deal with. ✊🏻
English

@bsgorrie Fantastic stuff Bruce. Well done mate, that really is good news ✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻

@DanielWhitby @Top10Nathan If it makes you want to dance or tap your feet, and it makes you happy, you can’t go far wrong, and don’t anyone tell you different. 👍👍👍
English

@Top10Nathan @DanielWhitby It just doesn’t sound right. Similarly if you listen to a lot of dub, you won’t get the sound you are after on a system designed to maximise classical recordings with lots of strings.
English

@Top10Nathan @DanielWhitby Putting together a high spec system if it doesn’t work with the space it’s in or how you listen to it. So for example, there isn’t much point playing small faces records on a really high end system, when the production was intended to hear them on a dansette or transistor radio
English

@Top10Nathan @DanielWhitby I found it quite difficult, because the language I use as a guitarist is completely different to that used by hi fi buffs. It took me 18 months working with a mate to get an understanding of the sound I wanted, based on the stuff I listen to.
English

@Top10Nathan It’s good stuff that, might need to clean a few contacts, but should be fine. You can pick up pretty decent speakers for very reasonable money second hand. Not much changes on speaker design, so there haven’t exactly been huge steps forward. Mine were new in 1973 😂
English

@goldstar571 Very interesting. Not exactly sure when this is from, but I know grandad got it in the 80s.
Our current setup is so basic that if I can even get this to work, I'm sure it will be an improvement. And if not, I'll just have to get my wallet out.
*cries in Yorkshire

@Top10Nathan There was a survey a few years ago in one of the hi fi mags. Apparently, the quality of sound on the equipment we use to listen to music on peaked in about 1979 (on average for all households)
Speaker cable will give better bottom end, but the amp might be too powerful for them
English

@goldstar571 Cheers mate. Banana plugs coming, going to see how that sounds and then potentially upgrade the speaker cable if need be.
It worked perfectly for him over the years and aside from needing a little clean, is looking sharp and spinning..fingers crossed it's up and running soon
