This shows exactly why war could be good for the national character, especially of European countries. It imbues the nation with a strong and enduring sense of moral clarity you normally only get at church on Sundays. This is exactly what Europe needs right now, and it would not be a moment too soon.

Idk I became semi-fluent in German (B2 level) which is enough for me to have a conversation and live a normal life in Germany

Absolutely!!! Why are we STILL requiring students to take foreign language in high school when there is virtually no benefit. Do high schoolers become fluent in the foreign language? No. Does it have a high ROI on cognitive development and brain health? Also no. Students’ brains would benefit more from 60 minutes of aerobic exercise than from sitting in a foreign language class. Also, we all have translators in our pockets. This is one of the many requirements in education whose time has expired. Public ed must stop wasting students’ time.
