@jakeherringmcfc @ToniJac99380926 @HM_Passport Well fingers crossed for you. I don't really get the reason for having to do it in writing. If the passport is being returned to the address it was applied from very frustrating. I called 03001231973 and got through eventually but you need to have plenty of time

I had read you need 6 months but seems to only be 3 months so if i had known i wouldn't have applied for renewal so i need it back to go away then i will renew next year. Its crazy must be an easier way surely

@jakeherringmcfc @ToniJac99380926 @HM_Passport That was exactly what I said on the phone. I am outside Glasgow and my passport has gone to Liverpool but would happily drive. They said a letter needs to be sent and signed and it can take up to 7 days for them to open the letter.

@gordonwright23 @ToniJac99380926 @HM_Passport Did they give you the option of driving somewhere to pick it up? I’m in the same situation as you. Can’t get through to them. Just want old one back urgently. Will happily drive to the other end of the country at this point…..

@ToniJac99380926 @HM_Passport Yeah I finally got someone who explained that to me. Crazy that it takes 10 days to return it to you. I wouldn't have applied for a new one of the gov website had the correct info. Nightmare

@gordonwright23 @HM_Passport You have to send a written letter to them it'll take up to 10 days for them to return your documents, this is what I was told on the phone friday

@Dannyj1981 @HM_Passport Ok thanks very much. Was hoping that wasn't the case. Was advised to renew as passport expires in March but found out I can travel with 3 months as long as I have a return flight booked. Would help if you could speak someone currently been waiting on phone for 53 mins. Thanks
