@walkhighlands @RobGMacfarlane I mean... we DO know who's running Twitter, and that doesn't seem to help. Mastodon is distributed in the same way, more or less, as email, and servers can be trusted or distrusted, blocked or unblocked. The bad ones can disappear over time.

@RobGMacfarlane I think Mastodon is surprisingly polished & growing very fast. But the org - which seems sound - is just the codebase. We don't know much about who owns/runs the individual servers which house user accounts - a worry from an accountability p.o.v. These things are built on trust.
