The Mayor of the City of Melbourne Florida exposed Public documents request shows the mayor voted on a resolution to give a NGO $500,000 of taxpayer money. Once the NGO got the money, they paid the mayor $10,000 Corruption and kickback money laundering “I uncovered through public records requests that the mayor voted on a resolution giving $500,000 of ARPA money, American Rescue Plan money, to Space Coast Habitat for Humanity (NGO) The mayor, who owns a roofing company, he voted for it and then he signed the resolution giving that money to Space Coast Humanity. The mayor was paid almost $10,000 from that federal money.” “How is that not corruption?” Further breakdown: Mayor of Melbourne, Florida Paul Alfrey owns Alfrey Roofing, a local roofing company The Melbourne City Council, with Mayor Alfrey voting and later signing the resolution, allocated $500,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds to Space Coast Habitat for Humanity Space Coast Habitat for Humanity then issued payments totaling nearly $10,000 to Alfrey Roofing Textbook kickback money laundering

As past Chairman of the @FloridaGOP I can tell you this is inexcusable. Under NO circumstances should a school district be part of promoting any political party or any fundraiser associated with it. Serious questions need to be answered: 1) There is usually a cost associated with these “ads”. Did the district use taxpayer dollars? If so, how much? 2) Who authorized the use of an official district logo for a political fundraiser? 3) Who, at the district level, coordinated with a political party to approve the ad copy? Did district employees attend and pay for the event? I’m thankful that @StasiKamoutsas is on it!

My latest @MiamiHerald “When a government is told it may be overtaxing residents by nearly $100 million, the response should never be to propose $450 million in new borrowing. That is not fiscal management. It’s taxpayer abuse”. miamiherald.com/opinion/op-ed/…
