It’s so ironic, that supermarkets, who have long been accused of screwing British farmers with their aggressive focus on ever lower prices, should take this opportunity to offer words of support. That’s all it is a PR opportunity. Supermarkets can do more to help British farmers than a repeal of the closing of this tax loophole will do. After all, we all pay Inheritance Tax, farmers do not need to be a special case, the tax can be avoided simply by passing on land and property to family before death. Whereas the commercial abuse of farmers by supermarkets is a much tougher nut to crack.
