Countries are celebrating bullet trains, smart rail networks, and fully integrated transport systems. Lagos is celebrating 24-car trains in 2026. The difference between developed and developing countries is simple: One celebrates innovation, the other celebrates basic infrastructure decades late. Imagine jubilating because of a train in 2026. And somehow, we're expected to clap. Oh my God, we are actually a 3rd world country!
Babajide Sanwo-Olu@jidesanwoolu

We have received a new set of 24-car trains to strengthen the Lagos Red Line fleet. This will improve capacity, reduce wait times and make daily commuting easier for Lagosians. We remain focused on building a transport system that is efficient and reliable for everyone. That is still our goal.

@jidesanwoolu This is beautiful, but why can't we make our own trains?

@BlehisBack 7 Although, there are some negative things that normally happen during these festivals which I'm happy the elders have done good job on. Fighting, stealing 4rm people's shops, rioting and cult clashes. All these were well tackled by Late KING 👑 2ru d hands of late BOMBATA.

Reminds me of Oro in Ikorodu. During Oro, restrictions are placed on women’s movement (mostly overnight). It is male-only ritual where the presence of women is considered taboo. Never went out but we grew up hearing that really terrible things were done to any woman caught outside during the festival (maybe real, maybe folklore). One Monday morning in 2023, I was stuck in Ikorodu cause they were carrying Oro in garage😭, during the day. I didn’t hear about it in time, I’d have left a day before. Got to garage and all the men there were advising me to better run back immediately, that Oro is in front! Imagine my mail to HR 😭. “I can’t come to work this morning, masquerades are outside” 😭. I no even think say she go believe me 😭 Luckily, she uses Twitter and said she saw the news 🥲

@BlehisBack 5 turn b dat. All busses having women were turned back and we went through back of BRT Terminal. Finish... As we dey live for èbúté-ipakodo. We followed Agric to enter ogolonto. We don't rape, kill or do anything barbaric here during our oro festivals. So, nah folklore via lies.

Over the weekend, I stumbled upon a shockingly unintelligent narrative attacking the performance of Bola Ahmed Tinubu. What was most alarming was not the criticism itself, because criticism is healthy in a democracy, but the reckless distortion of facts. Some boldly claimed he has spent four years in office and achieved nothing. Four years? That is not just inaccurate. It is misleading, intellectually dishonest, and grossly unfair. When public discourse is built on exaggeration and falsehood, it becomes necessary to pause and reset the conversation. So let us set the record straight, clearly and unapologetically, for the sake of truth, facts, and responsible national dialogue. President Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023. That means he has spent less than two years in office, not four. Leadership must be evaluated on evidence, not exaggeration. Now let us deal with performance. Despite inheriting one of the most fragile economic environments in Nigeria’s modern history, President Tinubu has initiated structural reforms that many administrations avoided for political convenience. Here are clear, verifiable achievements within less than two years: 1. Regional Development Commissions Across All Zones For the first time, structured development commissions now cover every geopolitical zone: South West Development Commission North East Development Commission North West Development Commission South East Development Commission North Central Development Commission South South Development Commission That is national balancing through institutional design. Guess what, nobody can do it better than PBAT and his team of experts and very knowledgeable and experienced lawmakers. 2. Nigerian Education Loan Fund The student loan scheme is operational, expanding access to higher education for thousands of Nigerian students. 3. Consumer Credit and CREDITCORP Establishing structured consumer credit systems to stimulate purchasing power and grow the middle class. As a fellow of NICA i will take this up separately and educate our people on the importance of this amazing development. 4. Blue Economy Ministry A new strategic focus on maritime resources and ocean based economic potential. 5. Livestock Ministry Targeted reform to modernize livestock production and address long standing agricultural conflicts. 6. Naira for Crude Policy A move aimed at easing foreign exchange pressure and strengthening domestic currency management. 7. Fuel Subsidy Removal A bold decision that ended a fiscally draining system that benefited a few while weakening the treasury. 8. FX Unification and Backlog Clearance Restoring transparency to Nigeria’s foreign exchange market and improving investor confidence. 9. New Minimum Wage and Wage Awards Despite fiscal pressure, workers received structured wage support and a new minimum wage framework. 10. Tax Reform Committee Comprehensive restructuring of Nigeria’s tax system to enhance efficiency and fairness. 11. Infrastructure Acceleration Rail, road, aviation, and port reforms aimed at boosting productivity and trade. 12. Power Sector Reform Restructuring efforts to improve generation and distribution efficiency. 13. Strengthened Security Coordination Enhanced operational capacity and strategic alignment among security agencies. 14. Increased FAAC Allocations to States Higher monthly allocations strengthening subnational governance. 15. Local Government Autonomy A significant push to restore constitutional independence to local governments. 16. Compressed Natural Gas Rollout Deployment of CNG buses to reduce transportation costs and dependence on petrol. 17. Palliative Support to States Structured intervention programs during economic transition. 18. Solid Minerals Expansion Diversification beyond oil through renewed focus on mining and natural resources. 19. Digital Economy Expansion Strengthening innovation, technology, and youth driven entrepreneurship. 20. Renewed Hope Agenda

UPDATE ON THE DNA ISSUE So after two days of crying, family meetings, and deliberations She has agreed to do the DNA test. BUT. She added her own condition. She said if the DNA proves the baby is his the wedding is cancelled. Yes. Cancelled. Her exact words? “If you need scientific evidence to trust me before marriage, then you don’t trust me enough to be my husband.” Now tell me why everywhere has gone quiet. Introduction done. Wedding date fixed. Vendors fully booked. Deposits paid. People have bought fabric. Tailors have started sewing. Hall almost paid in full. Now everybody is staring at each other. His family that was whispering “a man must be sure” are suddenly saying, “Let’s not overreact.” Her family? They said if the result comes out positive and he still expects marriage, they will personally escort her out of it. Now the man is confused. Because what he thought would give him “peace of mind” might cost him his wife. And here’s the real gag If the DNA shows the baby is his and she walks away, some people will say she’s overreacting. If she stays, people will say she has no self-respect. If she refused the test entirely, they’d say she’s hiding something. So which one is it? Is asking for DNA before marriage wisdom? Or is agreeing to marry someone who doesn’t trust you foolishness? Because now the wedding is on pause Let’s really talk. What would YOU do if you were her? Are her reasons valid??

So someone I know is currently in serious wedding preparation. Introduction has been done. Both families have met. Wedding date fixed. Vendors paid. Aso-ebi colours chosen. Group chats active. And she’s pregnant. Everybody has been happy and moving like “God when.” Tell me why this man now woke up one evening and said he wants DNA test before the wedding can go on. Yes. Before the wedding. The baby is not even born yet. He said he just wants “peace of mind” and that it’s not personal. The girl has been crying since yesterday. She said if he doesn’t trust her, then there’s no point getting married. Her family is furious and saying it’s an insult. His family? They’re backing him quietly saying “a man has to be sure.” Now the wedding is on hold. And I’m genuinely confused. If he waits till after marriage and something happens, everybody will call him a mumu. If he asks before marriage, he’s wicked and disrespectful. So which one is it? Is this lack of trust or smart decision? Because the way some of you shout “men should always confirm quietly” but now it’s happening before marriage and everybody is angry… Let’s talk. What do you advise her to do in this situation??
