Sure my buddy, that's a completely viable scenario. If a pump station along the EW pipeline took a hit, it could easily trigger a flaring event at Abqaiq. That's exactly why I'm weighing options across the board. Here is the quick breakdown. Raw feed from eastern fields moves into Abqaiq for processing and stabilization, before heading down the EW line to Yanbu. When a mid route pump station trips, crude throughput stops dead. Pipeline pressure spikes, backing up the exit route at Abqaiq almost instantly. You can't just throttle incoming upstream crude to zero on a dime, so trapped gas and crude build up inside the processing towers and separators, driving pressure to dangerous levels. To prevent disaster, automated safety systems trip, immediately diverting trapped off spec gases and volatile liquids to the flare stack to depressurize. Burning through that excess inventory generates a massive flaring event. Without knowing the exact root cause, I'm holding off on calling it either way. My gut tells me it's practically a 50/50 split right now. That said finding the flare stack coordinates at Abqaiq takes about 3 minutes. The FinTwit noise merchants pushing doomsday narratives without even doing that bare minimum deserve an instant mute. #oott #iran
